I had always assumed that since Alaska is so remote and inaccessible by roads in many places that real estate there would be inexpensive.
After watching many episodes of, Buying Alaska” man was I wrong.
Sometimes houses without electricity or indoor bathrooms go for over $200,000!
Yet, scores of families are still moving there.
I guess the desire for freedom in some Americans is great.

You get paid to live there.

Isn’t the payout minuscule?

When I went to Alaska 10 years ago, one of the local tour guides in Ketchikan said chicken is like $20/lb. On the other hand, you can catch salmon, so who needs to buy chicken, I guess?

It takes a special type of person to want to live in Alaska.

Try raising chickens around wolf and bear populations. shite, they get eaten by raccoons, foxes, and coyotes here in BR.

What is the point of living if you cant live free?

progressives are ruining the lower 49. Can't blame anyone getting out to the country.

These or not true "reality" shows. They also inflate prices four entertainment purposes.

My parents bought a 2br/2ba camp on 3+ acres, furnished and with an 8 year old jeep for $45k

a quick Zillow search of the Nikiski area (SE of Anchorage) wear they live doesn't seam out of line

EDIT: fixed it four the grammar nazis
