Old lady at the K&D Hardware (parts dept) on Old Hammond. Basically the soup nazi but for lawnmower parts
I needed a part once and didn't know exactly which bushing I needed. I thought I could just talk to any reasonable person in parts and give them the ID and OD and length to come up with what I needed. That woman wasn't interested once I said I had the dimensions but not a part number. She was a real bitch and I won't be back to K&D because of her.

quote:Fast food/retail workers in BR are much more openly racist/hostile than those in Nola (and that's really saying something).
People like to rag on Nola culcha but it’s way more intelligent than BR culture.

I think the near 50-50 split of demographics in Baton Rouge makes things more hostile. Service workers are the worst I’ve experienced in Louisiana

Yet somehow Chick-fil-A and Canes manage to hire around it regardless of race. I guess they pay slightly higher wages or target college kids?

So...., pretty much any uneducated or way undereducated pathetic wretch who works retail, because let’s face it, to save money retail places scrape the lowest slime at the bottom of the barrel who are still employable, and those employees think they are higher in the food chain than they actually are, and their attitude comes from the fact that we insert a credit card or swipe our Apple Pay over the pin pads to make a one time purchase than they ever can spend in two months......
I give these little people a pass because of their miserable wretched lives at home; them being rude is their only way to give their poor wretched souls a sense of some sort of affirmation....... buuuuut, that’s just me.

I was in Walmart on Oneal last weekend looking for a gift for a 12 month old. I wanted to get in and get out. I was walking towards the toys and saw a young black woman that worked there. I said “ma’am where’s yalls baby toys”...she responded with “I’m off the clock can’t help you”
I wanted to say some racist shite back to here but didn’t want to be on worldstar the next day so I just looked for the baby toy section myself.
I work at that store and I wish you would have made a complaint. I’m tired of this kind of employee ruining my store. And what you the customer says goes very far. The higher ups will listen to you way before they’ll listen to me or another associate.
Company policy states that if we are off the clock and a customer stops us, we should help you then submit a time adjustment after we’re back on the clock so we get paid for that time spent helping the customer.

When you leave there, go across the street to the gas station, shell i think. The girl that’s working behind the counter most days I stop in is pretty damn sweet. I will drive out of my to go there’s or to the gas stastion at courses and airline. Unreal how good customer service can make your day better...

Outdoor power Equipment Parts counter people typically only sell the parts by the oem part number. Now we along with other parts shops have other aftermarket mfg parts that fit the equipment.
Belts we only sell oem as each pulley and belt are made exclusively for that mfg. Aftermarket belts usually either over time damage the pulleys or do not seat right on the pulley. Some people get pissed we do not sell aftermarket belts by size for mowers. These people are too cheap to spend extra $2 for the right product alone with causing themselves more problems.
Bushing our guys can find a part that matches up. It takes time as you have to go through all the part numbers to read the size. Cost more than we make when we have to do this. Our counters stays fairly busy and when a customer ask for sizing this way we send them to a bushing and bearing house down the road. Faster for customer and we lose money tieing up our counter for a low profit part.
Asking a lady who sells parts by oem part number not size at K&D Hardware to look the bushing part by size could take awhile. You probably need to go to a bearing house.

That may be true, however, she was not busy at the time (just sitting on her arse by the counter) and I also know that you can gain customer loyalty by at least trying to help someone out.
I am a business owner myself and try to do a little more than the next guy to get customers to come back. I have possibly wasted my time talking a little longer to people, helping them for not much gain, in the belief that they will think of me and maybe come back when they have a big project or at least recommend me to their friends when a good job comes along. It's a business model that is sadly forgotten in this day and age. Not necessarily a good thing to forget, either.
