You'll have ro go back 15-20 years to buy a GMC/chevy that isn't junk...hate to tell you that, but it's true.

I remember buying a 99 F150 with a v6 and a stick shift. Black over silver. Pretty sure I paid 17k for it. Brand spankin' new.

Had an extra cab and cloth seats. We just can't have simple, nice things anymore.

Well the 5.0 is now shite (wet belts, plastic), RAM is shite, Toyota is shite...I'd considered a Silverado. I really like the Trail Boss disposition. Does the 5.3 really suck these days too?

I have a gmc at4 (not diesel) . It sucks. I think a majority of my problems are software issues or electronics. Mechanically it might be a decent truck if it didn't have all these issues with all the luxury things.

What makes it worse is the dealership sucks also. Brought it in to diagnose the issues. Had an appointment Thursday morning at 8am. Called to check on it that afternoon, wasn't gonna be ready because they had "bigger jobs ahead of mine". Fine. Called back midday the next day and they told me I would be hard to find the issue. Gave them a few more hours and Called back to check in. Guy said it probably wouldnt be ready by the end of the day. Told them to get my truck ready that I was coming get it. 2 full days to diagnose my issue and turns out they never even looked at it. Turns out all they did was change my oil in 2 full days of keeping my truck. On to the next dealership. If they can't get me an answer, taking it somewhere to trade in.

Anyone who buys a new car today is a fool.

Buy older used and learn to fix shite yourself. It’s not hard at all. Except maybe for rebuilding the engine and transmission. The only real issue in Louisiana is now your UM coverage costs 2x your liability because of all the uninsured cars running around. It used to be the other way around.

There needs to be a coordinated effort to impound any car without insurance. But the cops just don’t do it for some reason.

Find a dealer that you can go to an auction with or tell them what you're looking for. I've done this in the past with a very small dealership. You may not get an auction price but you will get what you want.

I'm guessing the 2500 series owners have an employer who provide them with a vehicle allowance. I know the company my 2 boys work for provide them with a $1200 vehicle allowance and fuel allowance...among a few other perks.

Agreed.

I drive a truck I belittled a salesguy on until I got it for 16k.

The guy who parks next to me bought a platinum f250.

Our trucks are the same year. He effectively spent 90k more because he bought a diesel and refused to buy preowned. The only feature his has that I don't, seat massager.

We make the same money.

ETA: to add insult to injury, I've put 150k miles on mine and have zero repairs. He has put 45k-ish and I've had to pick him up from the shop a half dozen times or more in the last three years.

Can you afford to pay cash? If not you’re working to live outside of your means.

Biggest misconception…”Duh, I have a job therefore I can buy what I want!”

Scruffy’s 2022 Canyon has been really nice.

No major issues.

Only thing that popped up was needing to replace the temperature sensor, which was under warranty.

Bought a used Z 71 Silverado for 16,000.00 cash. Very clean as the owner was a teacher and never used it off road. Ran fine for a couple of years and the motor went out. Looking for something else and everything even used and a few years old were pricey. Looked into buying a new motor and found that Auto Zone sold motors. Bought a brand-new motor for 4500.00 and had it installed for 2500.00. So, I'm 23000.00 in. Only thing had to replace was the damn tire sensors. Hope to drive it for another 10 years.

If you don’t know the show Futurama, Scruffy doesn’t want to know you.
