Robin Williams.

An extremely dedicated and talented individual and absolutely hilarious comedian with serious dramatic chops responsible for some of my favorite movies ever that had all the external things many people can only dream of. He was at the top of his profession and an a-list star and leading man for three decades on top of being a stand up comedian.

He had everything you could imagine would make you happy, but behind that outward facade was an extremely depressed and troubled individual who killed himself.

Robin Williams can teach you a lot about life.

Probably Stallone due to the Rocky and Rambo movies I grew up watching in the ‘80s. I wore out some VHS tapes in those days.

Thomas Sowell.

I used to be a borderline socialist. Then, I found out about Sowell and read his stuff. That "Progressive" streak in me ended w/ the quickness.

Shaquille Oneal and Kobe Bryant. They made me fell in love with sports. Shaq and Kobe made me always want to strive to be the best in everything I do. The work ethic I learned from playing sports shaped my life and who I am as a person. The whole Mamba mentality thing, I took that to heart as a child, pre-teen, teenager, etc.

Although actively playing sports for me ended in college. I will forever be thankful for all the lessons learned and the friends I have made through my numerous athletic teams.

raise you Gore Vidal.

I've never read any of his work, so I'm reluctant to pass comment. But I read this quote a few years ago, and it's what I think of when I see his name.

quote:

Whenever a friend succeeds, a little something in me dies.

It's a one liner, but I found it unattractive.

Avicii, man. His songs helped me get through tough times. Still hurts up to this day.
