I don't get the correlation between liking or disliking gold and Reed winning the Masters.

See, he sounds like a pretty cool dude to me. Trying to get some arse at the movies, leaves said chick when she doesn't put out. Get's in fist fights with his father. Dumps the younger sister for the older sister.
Yea no shite and on top of that he's a world class golfer. +1 for Reed. I like him.

Couldn't agree more. Aggressive, competitive, gets fricked up, pulls the impossible by dumping the younger sister for the older sister, is an OT baller.
What the fricking frick am I missing here??

statement from Jason Payne, the assistant golf coach at Georgia during Reed’s time there, that contains the following:
“While getting to know Patrick through the recruiting process as a coach, a few character issues came to light, that we as coaches thought we could help Patrick with. Once Patrick was on campus for a few months, it became clear that Patrick was not going to mesh with the make up of the team at that time, and he was dismissed from the team. There is no doubting the ability of Patrick as a golfer, it was Patrick as a person that we chose not to associate with. The story that has been reported by Shane Ryan is an accurate account of his college career at UGA—including the suspicions held by his former teammates.”
From the excerpt: “During a qualifying round prior to a tournament, according to sources, Reed hit a ball far into the rough. When he approached the spot, he found another ball sitting closer to the fairway, and was preparing to hit it when several of his teammates confronted him. Reed pled ignorance, but the other Georgia players were convinced he had been caught red-handed trying to cheat. That same fall, several items went missing from the Georgia locker room, including a watch, a Scotty Cameron putter, and $400 cash. When Reed showed up the next day with a large wad of cash, a teammate confronted him and asked how he’d come by the money. Reed said he’d played golf with a professor at the school and hustled him out of the cash. The player in question took this claim to the professor, who had no idea what he was talking about—it had been weeks since the man had played with Reed.”

When his family moved to BR, he needed two letters of rec to get into Uhigh and Nick Saban actually wrote one without ever meeting him or the family

Thanks for the links. That doesn't prove he stole. It proves he's a liar and apparently some folks didn't like him.

His coaches say he had known character issues but still thought they could change him. Not many coaches are willing to dismiss great talent unless they are pretty bad team mates

I think there are more people in this thread butt hurt that people don't like Patrick Reed, than people that don't like Patrick Reed.

I don't get blindly defending a guy that has a reputation that seems well deserved

So arguably the best ever at their respective sport and/or position? Surely your not dumb enough to see how that's different.
