hat do you mean by this? Honest question.
when the squadron came in to start working they began to take ground fire from local tPOS, some of which climbed onto the roof of families trying to be rescued to throw them aside,”cut in line,” squadron commander said frick this, the entire squadron went to Jackson for armor plating of the choppers and arming of the PJs

When I hear "Katrina", three things come to mind:
1. Water
2. Lootie
3. Chocolate City

The jail in New Orleans was abandoned and some of the inmates legit drowned in locked jail cells.

I was in the guard at the time. I deployed to Afghanistan in January of 03 and to Nola a day before Katrina and stayed there for five months. I would have rather gone to afghan twice.

Mike Meyers' side look right at the end, then the cut to a stone faced Chris Tucker is hilarious. They both had no clue what to do with Kanye's ramblings.

I remember driving my Yukon from Dallas w a generator and gas barrels to Deridder. No water 6-7 days, no electric for longer, no gas within 60 miles, trees destroyed in droves, Deridder is a shithole, but it was wrecked and still has buildings in disrepair. Truly awful. Parents were lucky to have a pool and mres.

I think this is the first time anyone has ever mentioned Deridder in a Katrina thread.

Should have said I can’t imagine how bad it was down there.

Holy shite Kayne. I’ve never seen that Mike Myers was prob thinking who the hell teamed me with this psycho frick stick?
I remember watching it live. I remember that look on Mike Myers face. He gave him this kind of "Did he really say that" look.

I know a guy that quit being a nurse and hasn’t been back to NoLA after being trapped in charity, and one guy in the Nat Guard who did recovery missions who won’t go back either.

I was working nights at a Shreveport hospital that with extra beds in some hallways had 847 inpatients. Non-stop 7pm-7am just me and 1 other person averaging over 60 patients, most with multiple procedures, per night. We made sure to eat and use the restroom just before we started as we knew it would be 12 hours before any break.
A classmate of mine was National Guard and activated, assigned to the Superdome. She was an early 30’s very smart, very professional and capable black woman.
When she got back she told me she was too scared to sleep while armed with an M-16 and bunked in the literal middle of the Guard setup. Last I heard about her was that she was early in therapy and was going to be out of pocket a while.
The still hurricane strength eye passed right over my house according to the radar records. (about 45 miles sw of the city) It happened during the early afternoon so I slept through it.

Never forget the fleet of school buses unused and swamped in a parking lot. Each one of them could have been loaded up with citizens and taken to a safer spot than parked under water.
But such was the leadership in NOLA then.

Katrina Carr Dr Part 2 of 3
Baw rode out Katrina at his house in Slidell. 15 minute mark water isn’t in his yard. Around 38 minute mark water is coming through his door … of his house on stilts. Houses around him are washed away.

Remember the storm was huge. I finally managed to drive to my camp on the Boque Chitto river. Tress hand fallen for 30 miles to the east. All laying down in the same direction.
My employer sent us to the West Hackberry site with free hotel and soon thereafter Rita struck and the storm surge was epic.
We then went to Freeport Texas for a couple months.
