As the responses have shown wayyyy more people than you think don't have kids because they can't do it naturally.
From experience, fertility treatments aren't cheap and aren't covered by most insurance. Adoption isn't cheap either. I've learned that if you have kids be thankful for them every day and don't assume everyone has a choice in the matter.

Married 2 years, been together for 4. We're waiting until after she graduates medical school and completes her residency. Wherever we go - which won't be in Louisiana for sure - we'll begin to put roots down.

My wife and I joke to each other about how people think we're childless weirdos.
It really doesn't bother me. I'd feel way worse about myself if we had a kid because of societal pressure instead of a genuine desire to be parents and do the right things for a child.

It bums me out because a lot of people don't know this (and it's not anyones fault, its such a painful subject that it doesnt get brought up by all of the people going through it)
But I've heard/seen so many friends get to age 28/29/30 and say things like about "ready to have kids in a couple years". And while I think its great they have a plan, waiting that long to START trying gives you very little leeway if things don't work naturally.

It really is mind blowing to think about how every single one of your ancestors fought through extreme poverty, disease, famine, wars, despressions, illness, childbirth, etc. for you to be alive in the year 2020...and then you be like "nah, seems like a good time to end the streak"

Eh, I'm not super worried that if my wife and I don't have kids, the 8 billion plus earth population is in jeopardy.
As a species, we're a ways from the endangered list.

i got two brother with kids. they will continue to family line. I dont want kids so let them have at it.
