What's the angle on dealing highly addictive drugs? You give it away at first, then start charging and when they're hopelessly hooked you jack the price up sky high and stick it to them real good.

Apple the drug dealer. frick them.

Technically that was an iCloud hack.

That's the thing. There's no point trying to hack the phones when almost everybody automatically backs up to the iCloud.

Stop doing that and they'll just go back to hacking phones.

Funny.

Mobile devices are never fully secure but the Android apps are dangerous.

That's mostly because anything is damn near allowed on Google Play.

I will give Apple credit that they for the most part sweep shite apps with the quickness and pass a fix.

Android vs Apple wars are stupid

I'm moving back to Apple this year after a long stint on Android. Apple charges a lot because they can. If Samsung didn't have a historic disaster of a product and spend years fricking up Android with Touchwiz, it could probably ask for just as much.

No doubt Samsung makes some beautiful products, but you'll also find a shite ton of people who had notes and galaxys and now won't ever buy them again. They're pretty polarizing.

for a pure android experience, you need to look at a Pixel. im anxious to see what the Pixel 2 will offer

touchwiz is not something i particularly care for either

I had a 6P, and enjoyed it until the hardware issues began

Before that, galaxy, note, HTC M8, etc. M8 was a great phone and HTC's iteration of Android was so, so much better than Samsungs.

I've heard Touchwiz is night and day better these days, but on all three Samsung phones I owned, I wanted to throw them into the ocean after about 8 months for various reasons.

I "upgraded" from a galaxy s7 to a s8...never again. I'm not getting rid of this phone until the battery is completely gone, and if I can get it replaced, then even better.

Smart phones have pretty much peaked as far as I'm concerned. Until something truly new and useful comes along I see no reason to spend that kind of money just to have the newest bauble.

I wouldn't pay a plugged nickel for an iPhone. Apple products are for people who need their technology spoon-fed.

This is where I am and I love tech and enjoy the latest stuff quite often, but the price of these things is skyrocketing.

All I truly need with a phone is the ability to the browse the internet, text, call, and email.

After that it's just bonus. This is at least how I'm looking at it if they expect me to pay $1000 for the damn thing.

1) They needed to limit demand somehow since they couldn't get enough OLED screens to make this just the new model at the same price. 2) Apple likes to charge it's customers as much as they are able to. 3) They actually have added some nifty camera tech on the front of the phone. Considering how much this board skews to adult men, most here won't see the value in it. For people that like posting selfies, especially SnapChat filter selfies, ie kids and women, this will be the phone to have for a while.

OK, if that's important to you. I bet your current phone will accomplish basically the same thing without the little nifty camera tech thing. Just another $1000 bucks to blow though.... It's not just supply and demand either. There really isn't a supply yet. They just want to see if the demand for the phone is a bust or not. So far there have been enough people to carry them even though the Android phones have had many of their "new" features before the latest I phone comes out. At some point it's going to bite Apple in the rear end. $1000 or more for phone/camera/internet is just about there for the masses. That's a high threshold when you can by a really nice tablet or laptop for the same or less.

I want the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The Note 7 (the exploding one) was so much fun - I loved doodling. Going to see the cost of swapping to that this weekend, lads

Yep, also had the note 7. I'll probably get the note 8 about a year from now.

I started out on androids and got the iPhone3S just bc I wanted to give apple a go.

IMHO the androids do more, however to fully optimize usage, one needs to know how to use all the programming lines. With Apple it's just touch and go, no programming knowledge required.

IMHO Apple wins bc they have made it for the dummy to use easily.

For several years I would root and tinker with my Android phones. I can't do much more than that, but certainly beyond what most people were doing with iPhones.

But I'm kind of over it at this point. Also, one thing I'm looking forward to about going back to Apple is the availability of accessories. While it's not like there was some real shortage of cases for the Nexus or HTC One, phones like that don't compare to Apple when it comes to options.
