Like I said, there will be thousands of jobs for the boom happening in LC. Why can't the laid off Laffy hands come do some of these jobs instead of trucking people into man camps from other states?
I think it will happen to some extent. Maybe society had made it to easy to be unemployed.
I remember my grandfather talking about the odd jobs he had, one working on the Panama Canal. Going from Laffy to LC should be a no brainer in that type of situation.

And slap them one or two more times if they think voting for Hillary Cuntin is their next dumbass move.

What does any of this have to do with the oil and gas price? You must also believe that Saudi Arabia is to blame for this oil surplus. They should have to cut supply to make room for american oil cuz 'Merica!

I'm making a lot less than I made last year. My base pay is enough to cover my bills and stash a few dollars, but all of the commission/bonus/etc is trending towards zero.

On a more serious note, only an idiot could not have seen what is happening now in regards to oil.
Hey everyone, it's the Monday morning quarterback.
Youre full of shite if you are implying you knew oil was going to drop to $35 a barrel in one year.

Me. I work offshore and get to expense my mileage for crew change. Cheaper gas means more profit from my expense report each time I go home.

He knew, but was to ethical to make millions of the knowledge.
Everyone screams a bubble is going too bust, because eventually every market downturns.

Yea but there are usually indicators. People made money shorting the oil downturn and people did the same over the '07 real estate pop.

There might be indicators, but knowing when it might happen is the 2nd part of the puzzle.

No doubt and the guys that timed it correctly made a killing but it is probably a 50/50 mix of knowledge and pure luck.

If it were possible to short the New Orleans housing market people would have been doing it for the last two years.
Despite the murders and oil firestorm out is still a top 5 market next year. Crazy.

Yep, I can tell you now that oil will go back up. If I could only know exactly when and by how much. It's a matter of time when the lack of drilling catches up to the production.

Right, and a lot of people lose money by trying to short at the wrong times. Some win, some lose.
You can look at certain housing markets, or the tech industry and say "yeah that bubble is going to burst." But when? It could be years from now, and theres no telling how severely it will burst. Reliably Predicting the timing of a bubble bursting within a year is something I'm pretty sure no one can do. Maybe they get it right a couple times, but not reliably.

New Orleans has had years when murder was way worse.
2015 wasn't that bad.

Why would they short it while it's hot? You would want to short it right before a downturn.

Yeah I would not short New Orleans housing, everyone wants to live in Nola right now

Everyone has said the downturn had been coming for the last 2 years.
I remember a graph about 6 months ago, posted on TD, showing the downturn was already happening. Prices continue to skyrocket.

I'm no expert but I don't think Nola's downturn is imminent
