My wife has an older brother and sister. I've known my wife for 7 years and I do not know the names of her siblings, where they live, nor have I ever met them.

I think they don't like my wife because their dad put my wife (the youngest) in charge of his estate.

You mean conservative comment.

I think he meant the actual definition of liberal and not a political meaning.

Your brother sounds like a bitch, you're probably better off without him.

My sister hasn't spoken to our mother in about 4 years though. Didn't invite her to her wedding, wouldn't even allow anybody to give her their address so she could send a wedding gift. Personally I don't think I could outright turn my back on direct family unless they were a murderer, rapist, thief, etc.

You should be able to go into your wedding without inviting him with the knowledge and comfort that you tried.

frick that guy. If Hell does exist (which it likely doesn't), people like him are the ones who deserve to go there over people who have premarital sex but still respect their family.

True.. But it seems he has a liberal definition for the term adultery.

I reckon I have misread the definition of adultery?
so you made a thread bc he said adultery instead of fornication?

It aggravates me to high hell that he thinks only of himself and has no desire to be there with our family.
sounds like he has some concern for your spiritual well being.

You've been living in sin. How about the pain that causes your creator?

We grew up in a conservative southern baptist household. My grandfather was a traveling southern baptist preacher.

I can't understand how someone can turn their back on their own blood. We're all sinners. frick, it makes my blood boil. I'm okay with never speaking to him again. It hurts because of what this does to my mom and dad. There will come a day when they no longer walk this earth with us.. I don't want that pain hovering over them when their time comes.

I have a brother who I have only spoken to a handful of times in a few years. He has a really bad anger problem and treats my mom like absolute shite. It sucks that we are so close in age (18 months) and don't talk, but I just can't be around him or be cool with him from the way he treats everyone in the family, especially our mom.

Your brother is a certified fool and a boorish moralist. Any decent person would do it for their mother anyway. I bet this happens a lot more these days over politics. People don’t know the difference anymore between ego and wisdom. It’s just sad.

So. Why use semantics to avoid the conversation? He has a legitimate reason and gave you an out. Blood is thicker than water.
