re: Who has a sibling that refuses to acknowledge your existence?

I haven't spoken to my oldest sister in 10+ years. I have seen her at some extended family get togethers, but neither of us acknowledge each other. She now has a son who is about 3 years old and is apparently going through a bad divorce.
My other sister feels really bad about not having a relationship with her and in particular the nephew. She's tried to reach out before and gets shut down with some bullshite excuse or another. I think it's unfortunate that I probably won't ever know my nephew, but I'm past caring too much about the oldest sister. She never really viewed or treated me like I am an actual real human being.

Laughed out loud when I read this. I am your lone upvote.

My wife only speaks to her sister occasionally. She's a tPOS.

You never asked? I feel like that might have been something I asked before marrying someone

You have to be an absolutely shite human being to turn your back on your parents, assuming they were decent parents, of course. Most of you sound like you came from good families and have a nutcase as a sibling.
I still interact with mine regularly, but I have a cousin who is a complete retard and blames his shitty life on his mother and so I do not think his sister and he talk much because she hates him now. He didn't even tell her he was now married. He's a true piece of shite and will die alone once his wife figures out all of his issues.

What kills me is that there are so many kids out there growing up in shite conditions with either no parents or shitty parents, and all they want is to love someone. Then you have the people discussed in this thread who abandon loving parents because they're human filth.

quote:He is four years my senior. He stopped speaking to me when I turned 18. I have tried the last ten years to settle our differences and have asked what I needed to do. He has flat out refused to even give me a hello or shake my hand at any family Christmas gathering over those years. I just gave him three years thinking I should give him his space. It wasn't until Saturday that I reached out to him to tell him I'm getting married. That was the first time he has spoken to me over all these years.
So. Why use semantics to avoid the conversation? He has a legitimate reason and gave you an out. Blood is thicker than water.

Damn. It's time to Bury the hatchet.

She doesn't know where they live. She probably be able to narrow it down to south Florida, but that's about it.
Their names: She's maybe mentioned them 4 times in 7 years so it's not something I can recall. But Yes, she has stated their names to me but it's so very rare that I forget.
When I go visit her parents and a "your brother" or "your sister" is mentioned it typically comes with an eye roll from both parents.

I have a brother who I have only spoken to a handful of times in a few years. He has a really bad anger problem and treats my mom like absolute shite. It sucks that we are so close in age (18 months) and don't talk, but I just can't be around him or be cool with him from the way he treats everyone in the family, especially our mom.
Are you my brother? If not, you sound like my oldest brother talking about my other brother.

Who in hell authorizes a 3 year old to be married?

Grats on fricking the chick your brother always wanted and never got.

He’s mad that your having premarital sex
You tell him you’re getting married which will fix that problem and he still acts pissy
I think he’s a Baptist zealot and not right in the head. It sucks that you aren’t able to have a relationship with him.

Yeah, I have a brother who has been living in sin with his fiancée for a year and a half. I keep trying to get him to confession but he won’t go. Then he has the balls to ask me to be in his wedding.

shite going by early Christian traditional, a verbal betrothal without witnesses counted as marriage.
Even later on it caused quite a few cases of bigamy.

If he truly cares about his soritual well being why doesn’t he be around him to try share God’s word with him? Sounds like he picks and chooses which sins are worse than others. And he judges people.

seems like your wedding just got more fun!
Posted on 7/2/18 at 3:48 pm to Flanders
I know it sucks because he’s family but he’s a typical holier than thou, hypocritical person. I wouldn’t want someone like that in my life.
