Go easy on the booze. Your meal isn't $250 - $300. The booze is running up the bill.

he will throw a $10 for the tip and his wife will scold him and he goes off the rails...we've learned to carry and extra $20-30 when eating with him lol

He's probably been leaving a $10 tip since 1962... It's 2024 dad!!

I'd rather stay at the house or condo and fire up the grill. Wife enjoys going out to eat and I just can't say no anymore. Guess I'm getting old. A lot of places have went to shite since Covid though.

My dad is somewhat wealthy, but he's a bad tipper. He always pays when we go out to eat, but I make sure to have some cash on me so I can slip a little extra on the table as we are leaving

As is mine, last time we went out to eat with him he was going to refuse to give the waitress ANY tip because his margarita didn’t have enough salt on it.

My fiancé ended up tipping for us and for him. And that’s one of the many reasons we don’t go out to eat with him.

I'm definitely cutting back. Me and my wife would typically go out every Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Yesterday I just decided to go to Whole Foods on the way home, got ingredients for dinner, lunch today, and a 6 pack of beer for 30 bucks.

One of our normal rotation spots would have been 75-100 and it's honestly not even that fun. It's one thing when it's like Friday and Saturday and we can truly unwind and relax or drive farther to try a new spot but on Thursday its like we just go through the motions so we can get home and go to bed.

Some of my favorite foods I'm not going to try to make from home (pizza, Thai, Indian, Japanese) so I'll always be a patron on some level

I feel like Mexican is one of the few left that you can eat really good for a fair price. Wife and I like a spot in town that we can get a pitcher of margaritas and fajitas for 2 for like $45. Honestly that's not that bad imo.

It is.

Wife, kid, and myself usually get out for around $60 tip included

2 entrees
Kids meal
Cheese dip
2 margaritas

Can't be beaten

I went to chilis the other night and thought the same thing. Said we would never go back. It used to taste really good in the 90's and early 2000's.

We were at an impromptu get together and they grabbed takeout fajitas at the last minute. I figured they were Taco Cabana until I saw the Chilis bag, They have gone way down hill and that's not nostalgia talking, They were one of the better national chains twenty years ago.

Me and my wife went to Sushi Masa in Lafayette the other day ( Memorial Day actually) and we both couldn’t believe how so many fat people were rolling in. Really overweight people.

Personally I just can’t help but get irked internally every time after we go to one of these places and the dinner is over and see the bill for $250-$300 for 2 people.

Within 24 hours of the meal anything you ate—even if it was the most expensive thing on the menu—is now literally a turd.

No offense, but IMO you're crazy to regularly spend that kind of money on something that momentary. Twice a month for a year is $7,200. I get that it's about "the experience," but if you're all about experiences you could go to Europe or The Bahamas every year for a week for that kind of money.

My wife grabbed chilis to go today…god me a Cajun chicken pasta and she got fajitas. It was just ok…when I saw the FIFTY-TWO dollar charge on my account I thought they double charged me. Nope..that pasta was 25 bucks

Just went on a date with a chick that got 2, $15 drinks. I really wanted to say something to her. Like be respectful, I'm paying for this not you and you can buy 3 bottles of that at the grocery for that. I'm not seeing her again. I imagine it'd only get worse.

They are selling "Deep" in the frozen section at Publix, now. We still go to our local Indian grocery, but check out your freezer aisle. We make rice with various spices and add a frozen meal, the calories are like 700, between 2 people, for an entire meal.
