I have seen much crazier than cutting grass at 5am.
Woke up in the middle of the night one time and saw my neighbor using a vacuum on his driveway.

I don’t personally do it but I can understand why someone with a large property to cut does it in this heat if they don’t have neighbors nearby

I live on a golf course. At this time of year, the mowers definitely start around 4 am. It gets light at 6.

In a neighborhood I would have a problem with the 4am wake up. But the church has no neighbors its a park on one side and woods on the other. they have lights that illuminate the entire area. Who cares cut the grass when you want

You all are arguing past the point. He's not doing it to beat the heat he's doing it to antagonize his neighbors. The other guy may be an a-hole but the preacher is hardly blameless either. Sounds like they deserve each other.
