I may or may not have purchased gifts for my grand dog and cats yesterday.

Oh yea, our 2 pups get chewy toys, squeaky toys and the expensive treats we don't buy them every week.
We haven't had the heart to tell them the real story about Santa yet and they still get as excited as always.

I’ll put dog toys or bones in a bag with tissue paper and let him go to town opening it up and pulling everything out, he gets super excited
I wish ours would do that...at Christmas. None of our dogs will take a toy or treat unless we give it directly to them, then they know it is their toy and the other dogs won't bother it. We don't teach this, somehow our older dogs always teach the younger dogs, I wish I could take credit for it.

Mine has a stocking up and it will be stuffed full of rawhide bones etc etc after Santa leaves

We get ours a bark box every year.
They know exactly which present is theirs. The little vultures have been sniffing and licking it for a week.

We shared in the Christmas Joy with Rusty for the first six years of his life.
When the Chow Chow down the street took his favorite stuffie he stopped believing in God and requested we stop with the materialistic things the world told us to purchase for him.
So each Christmas eve we go to the pound and get him a cat

Treats and tennis balls to replace the ones they’ve destroyed over the last year.

Mine get a bone... which is actually a present for myself as I get a few moments of peace and quiet.

My fish don’t know what Christmas is.

My family and I agreed to not exchange gifts this year for Christmas.
My mom then says.....”but you know I’m still getting your dogs a gift”

I’m getting her some toys and bones.
I reminded my siblings that I now have a child and that they should remember to get her something. Lol
Not wanting to derail the thread but my puppy (9m) loves to just rip all stuffed animals to shreds and eats the stuffing. She even rips the small tennis balls up.
Is that normal?

Yes. Mine grew out of it though. But no toys are allowed to have eyes on it, according to the dogs.

She ate the plastic eye of a stuffed horse yesterday.
I hope she grows out of it soon. Thanks!

Yep. That fat bastard got a Yetti water bowl last year. This year he's in the dog house since last week he decided to throw-up right in front the robot vacuum and watch as it pushed it all around the living room and kitchen.

I don’t buy Christmas gifts for my own pets, but I bought some anti freeze for my neighbor’s dog last year. He must have loved it because he doesn’t bark at me anymore when I’m in my backyard.

That’s the pack mentality

We just adopted a 3 year old 65lb Black Lab in September.
Wife: What are we getting the dog?
Me: Ummm.. Excuse me?
Wife: For Christmas, the dog, a gift?
Me: We saved her from a shelter and she sleeps in our bed. I think we are covered.
Wife: But I can't put that in her stocking.
