Who designs fireworks?

Not the show, but the actual fireworks themselves. Is it all in China or are Americans specifying the components?

I think I recall reading the Chinese basically copy the legit products and make it substandard, doesn’t meet safety thresholds etc but difficult to prevent them importing it

There's at least one American company in Pennsylvania. Mike Rowe went there and got dirty. I seent it.
