Who are the best insurance agents in BR?

I have State Farm and would like to stick with them, but am looking to switch agents. My current agent's office is far from my new apartment, and he's kind of an a-hole.
Recommendations for good ones around BR? I called one a few months ago (still State Farm, different agent), and she gave me the runaround and made it sound like I had to have a legitimate reason or gripe to switch agents within the same company. TIA.
ETA: Since apparently State Farm sucks, I'm open to other suggestions for companies/independent brokers. Edited thread title to omit State Farm exclusively.

If you are looking for an actual State Farm agent to give 2 shits about you, you are going to be disappointed. Go to an independent broker for your insurance.

Great advice, Harry Caray. Would consult again.

Yea, they get testy when you switch between state farm agents...i worked for them for 10 years. weird company

I know a lot of agents won't take your business if you're just switching from one agent to another.
Also, shop around. You're likely to actually save some money over State Farm if you been with them for a while.

I got full coverage from an independent company. Guy I talked was named Chet and his office is in a Winnebago parked at the Wal-Mart. Just cut him a check for $1500 and you've got it all- life, house, car, flood, wayward space junk, and a shitload of supplementals.

Well this is going about as well as I expected. I'll just ask the window lickers in my office instead.

Geico. They're hard to beat. Excellent service, excellent rates.

You'd have better answers from Money Talk. But their advice will probably be more of "why are you with State Farm? Shop around."
Which is the correct advice.

Just dropped them like a bad habit. Saved me $1000/yr.

I went with MidSouth Insurance. Policy is underwritten by SafeCo. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks. I always forget about the other boards. I should have known what I was walking into with an OT thread.

Go with an independent agent. And always remember you get what you pay for. Don't cut corners in insurance and then get pissed when your claim isn't covered. Find a local reputable independent that knows their stuff and work with them.

I saved a lot of money when I dropped State Farm. BUT I will say this. State Farm is a claim paying machine. So if shite goes South, State Farm isn't a bad place to be. They are just so damn expensive.
