In a lot of these cases the parents don't know. They're taking the results to the vendor that's doing the blue or pink whatever, so it's a surprise to everyone.

At first glance I thought that was quite trashy. But then I realized, that would probably be a really fun party. Most likely their would be copious amounts of booze consumed and fun times would be had

I don't really judge them as much as stating facts and playing the odds. The OT just likes stories like this.

Co-worker had a gender reveal party. They were excited because they found out they were having a boy. First child was a girl. Day after the party they learned the nurse screwed up and had emailed them the wrong sex. They were having another girl.
