Those dining halls are hit or miss in every city.

Yes and no. You’d think that a capital city with a major SEC university in a part of the city that they’re gentrifying would be a successful concept. It’s really bizarre that this thing didn’t work. At least in my opinion.

And as they continue to restrict traffic flow on govt street, others will follow.

As many had predicted, Government St. now sucks.

So is White Star Market already a thing of the past?

Follow the Broome signs, take a right past the JBE signs, and look for the second door to the left for the gulag...

I think a single restaurant group could do multiple concepts with a bar in the middle to tie it all together.

that’s the setup at streetside market in Hammond.
it’s always crowded and the food is excellent
great place to drink as well

Yeah I think it shut down very early on in COVID.

It was in its death throes before COVID put it out of its misery.

I enjoyed the shops there but the owners told me it was really difficult to earn enough to keep business going. Very expensive rent considering most businesses were startups

Government street can be like a street in Austin . Needs more live music, ethnic food. It is the hipster tigerland

Food and drink scene on Government is the best I've seen it in the decade and a half that I've lived in BR. I genuinely don't understand what some of you get out of talking straight out of your asses.

Does anybody remember Catfish Town in the mid-1980's? Fun place with lots of restaurants, shops, and bars. It didn't last too long, either.

St. George, Covid and SWB will kill plenty of Baton Rouge restaurants before 2021.
