Scroll through that list. How many from the last hundred years would you be proud to have the leader of your nation spearhead as the national monument to celebrate 250 years?

And how many look like cheap knockoffs?
Counterpoint: I’m just a regular American guy. If you built an “arc” right next to the one it ripped off, I still couldn’t tell which was which and I honestly wouldn’t give a shite. Just make it bigger than the rest and I’m impressed.

In fact, that might be the most American thing about it: not originality or restraint or the latest in frieze design. Just the sheer audacity of building something louder, taller, and more self-confident than anyone asked for or even knew they wanted.

I like how this very-legit looking graphic uses the term “Arc De Trump”. Like that’s somehow just normal reporting.

Since they can’t get him for anything else they’re forced to resort to using bad photos & name calling

The face of the person that came up with arc de trump:

It’s not louder; it’s just taller. And when comparing skyscrapers, that might count for something. When you’re building an arch, it smacks of compensation, in my opinion.

Didn't ya hear....Trump is already the third greatest President according to people like Newt Gingrich. The man NEEDS a monument.

He hasn't done anything all that historically significant like establish a country or keep one together during a Civil War or let's say defend against an attack and win on two fronts, or even start something like an interstate highway system.....but he's the third greatest President......so he needs an Arch or be added to Mt . Rushmore.......and soon.

Skyscrapers are the Freudian case study. And overcompensation is the American aesthetic.

It’s not overcompensation if it’s true.

By making things impressive. Taking something huge and ornate and building something slightly larger and plain isn’t American; it has more of a third world tin pot “look at me I’m relevant!” vibe. It’s an arch, one of the most stable architectural structures possible. Building one slightly taller isn’t interesting

I don't really have a strong opinion on 'arcs' really or "monument" architecture in general so I'm not going to argue what kind of design makes a better national dick metaphor. What would you suggest?

I am very impressed with your spelling. Now, you need to work on your sentence structure . That was not a proper declarative sentence, or even an exclamatory sentence. It's not a sentence.

Be careful when you call someone a "retard".

I think going through this man’s career as a politician and saying anything that failed or sounded dumb is a troll and anything that was beneficial made him a “god emperor” is incredibly stupid. That makes him infallible. Y’all gotta get a grip on what being a human means

I’m fine with the sentiment that it shouldn’t be an arc

But some of these dudes balling their firsts because Trump might have the audacity to build something nice looking that stands the test of time and which will make it harder for them to pretend he never existed…is hilarious

It's only called Arch de Trump by those opposing it.

Not that I think this is a good idea or something we should focus on, but they say it's privately funded.

Hopefully people see it as an Independence Arch for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and future generations can disassociate it from Trump.

Great countries throughout history have built monuments to celebrate great achievements, such as the Declaration of Independence. And if it's truly privately funded, then people should just move along if they don't like the architecture or something.

Imagine what this board's reaction would be if Biden or Obama proposed something like this.
