If I am going to drink around 2 drinks, I'll have it neat or on the rocks.
If I plan on drinking a lot, it's bourbon and 7up.

I agree, whiskey and coke just has such a sweet,syrupy taste. Sometimes I feel sick just thinking about it.

Anybody saying "whiskey on the rocks or neat" is drinking a different whiskey than the guy mixing it with fricking Sprite. You don't want to drink whatever Sprite Guy is drinking on the rocks or neat. You want to mask the diesel engine residue you're imbibing.

I have a diminishing rate of returns with beers and liquor. That's why I usually get a sampler 6 pack of beer for home or order different beers at a bar/restaurant.
If I'm drinking liquor, I'll try to mix it up from one drink to the next. Therefore, I enjoy bourbon mixed with coke or sprite or gingerale or water or various juices. For my tastes, there is no right answer.
