Well there are plenty of people who like Star Wars so I thought I'd get their opinion.
I saw Rogue One and thought it was decent except for the whole kyber chrystals thing, that's yet another element added unnecessarily. It's like Star Wars is trying to shed the fantasy aspect from itself which is absurd and ruining the story.

Sci-fi doesn't have to be grounded in the reality we know (i.e. the present day world) and rarely is. What it does have to is follow the physical laws of the universe as we know it, thus being "plausible". Fantasy disregards this and many tines story elements involves things that contradict understood physical laws: magic, people flying, etc.

I know, but they could have picked a much better explanation, just say he was born with the ability to tap into the force and leave it at that. No need for bacteria or electronic readers to sense it and all that crap. It's Star Wars trying to become sci-fi instead of embracing the fantasy which it is.

Don't know how old you are but when Jar Jar first came out the press killed it as racist. Jar Jar was a Jamaican and the other dudes were asian. I guess the writer didn't get the memo.

Jedi's just have a higher amount. I don't see a problem with midi-chlorians. Plus, the argument has been the opposite. It takes away from the fantasy and adds science to it. They are cells living within cells.

Star Trek (which I hate also) is much more in the vein of sci-fi. They do deviate from that at points but for the most part it's sci-fi, mostly everything is plausible. I'll call it bad sci-fi.
