Yea... never heard of it. Not trying to knock it but that sounds fairly obscure.

I spoke with a PhD engineer once about schools and he personally proclaimed that Tulane is generally considered the best Engineering school in LA at least in his circles.

Before you laugh and discredit a smaller schools engineering program...check where that smaller school ranks among the others...it may surprise

From personal experience and hearing it from the academic advisors myself, LSU is harder in engineering than Tech. A lot less people graduate at LSU in engineering compared to Texh.

It's a new field, but has received a huge push after the executive orders that Bush put into effect in 2004, and furthermore the HITECH Act that Obama signed in 2009.

Sounds interesting. I'm in environmental compliance so my field is fairly new as well.

One of the best, if not the best, orthopedic surgeons in the world is an LSU grad

I never said LSU had bad degree programs.

It has been awhile since I looked at all relevant engineering programs in LA. I will go to Tulane site to see what's up and post a link. Back in High School I remember Tulane did have a program. This may spinoff

At Tech I had the opportunity to go to research conferences. That is where I met this PhD.

Thank you for informing me of this. You and few others have given me good insight. I guess I also need to factor in that Tech has a unique sense of elitism about its ENGR, so maybe it appears harder.
But keep in mind less people graduate in engineering from SU than at LSU or Tech.

These threads are always pretty absurd.
Unless someone takes the same curriculum at both schools, how the frick would one know?

I think another factor needs to be networking. I work with a bunch of LSU engineers in my work in the pipeline business here in Houston and obviously in my work in LA. I would say that LSU grads like to hire LSU grads so there is that. In fact, I deal with more LSU engineers than Aggies and Houston is basically ground zero for Aggie when they leave CS. I have only worked with one Tech grad and I have been in O&G for almost 20 years.

Not that LSU is thought of as being way ahead or anything, just that if the state has a "tech" school, its usually known for its engineering (Ga Tech, Cal tech, etc.). La Tech cant even pull that off. It's an alternative to LSU just like ULL.
You may hate me, but I honestly cherish you as a person for making this comment. I really appreciate when people see things for how they are. God bless you and I'm being very sincere.

As for the choices, I believe that currently made the absolute best choice for the present. I have no need to validate anything, and my topics are not intended to beat the same drum. They are meant to gather differing opinions to discuss a topic.

Harder is a tough, perhaps improper, measure; the more academically rigorous school can be easier overall if the teachers are better, the class sizes smaller, better library, etc.
