y south Ms or Houston because of all of the La transplants

Other than the pine trees and red dirt I feel pretty at home in south MS many have fled the bayou state. I bet half the county was born in south eastern LA

My impression of Monroe is that it feels like it could be part of Mississippi. Also its own thing.

All of those states are boring compared to Louisiana but to answer your question, I will pick South Carolina because of Charleston. .

From the outside most people think what South LA is when they think of y'all. As I'm sure you're aware. Overall I'd say Mississippi is probably the closest. Maybe Florida.

If you're talking about Monroe east then yeah. But Shreveport is East East Texas. It's not even remotely Arkansas.

I worked in south ark 2 years. IQ levels drop 20 points going into s ark. There wasn’t a dept head there that wasn’t practically retarded. Out of 40 employees I had, only 2 belonged in the lab. So don’t include s ark to n la. East Texas is the answer.

I once lived in North Arkansas (Jonesboro) for a few years and even Arkansas makes fun of SA. But there’s not anything remotely similar between SA and NLA. Plus NLA is split. From Minden to Shreveport south to Deridder and back up is close to East TX. Ruston is an island of itself with Monroe down to Georgetown East has its own deal going.

Observations from someone who’s lived/worked all over the US.
That Eastern NLA is either closer to the MS Delta (NOT the AR Delta) or the hilly part is actually very very close to Alabama (particularly South Alabama).
That Western portion is very close to East Texas.
CenLa reminds me of North Mississippi ( Starkville / Philadelphia area).
SW LA reminds me of Beaumont/ Orange TX.
Acadiana is its own country.
BR is a mashup of all of us.
NO area is similar to the Bronx / Boston
The toe of the boot is similar to South MS.

Also the UP of Michigan, rural Ohio, upstate NY, rural Wisconsin, the Florida panhandle (the trees part) Western TN, Southern IL, rural parts of MN, Northern CA, rural Washington are all very similar to NLA.

Louisiana is a unique blend of so many cultures. I’ve been married into Cajun French cultures, one of my best friends is from Mamou, my DIL is from DeRidder, my SIL is from CENLA, my other best friend is from Ruston, and I’ve got many friends in Houma, Metairie, and even over to Cameron. We all different but similar in that we all are crazier than most folks (maybe not Alaska).

Florida.

They have the swamps, hurricanes, and completely different culture between North/South FL.

Both are located in the Southeast but outside of the "Deep South".

Before settling on Orlando, the Northshore almost became Disney World.

South Louisiana is a lot like Hawaii culturally. Big emphasis on family. More clannish than most areas but once they accept you and trust you they are more open and accepting and treat strangers as family.
