Kinda odd topic I guess. Been wondering about that for a while now. Louisiana had the tigers, Arkansas had the yell rifles, Tennessee’s cavalry regiment, etc.

Which state produced the best troops or units?

Probably one of the northern states. Seeing as how they won

Got an ancestor that was a lieutenant in the 27th Louisiana Infantry Regiment. Got captured in Vicksburg. We still have his parole papers.

The Yanks were the real men in that war. Bent the South over and had their way.

The North had 2,000,000 soldiers, the South 750,000. We won't even go into the wealth/resource gap. Your point here is terrible.

I'm probably wrong but i think the confederates used a fair amount of guerrilla tactics. Tactics union forces didn't often use.

That kinda makes them a bit on the badass side.

KY and TN had shooters. Still do today.

North had the advantage of newer and better rifles.

Michigan had some badasses. Joshua Chamberlain’s regiment from Maine was pretty salty as well. Still a little butthurt about them whipping up on Alabama’s boys at the Little Round Top. I mean seriously, Alabama, how do you let fricking Maine run your arse off??

I would guess that the 54th Massachusetts Infantry got a lot of satisfaction.

Virginia.
Plain and simple.

Louisiana fell quick (doesn't mean they didn't fight hard)
Texas barely got into the battle minus some regiments.
The rest of the south had good soldiers. Super brave. But they got folded into the other regiments.
Hell, most of the calvary was spread all over from the rich south .

The north had good people fighting as well.

But Virginia saw everything and fought tooth and nail against a very close border and never gave in.

Sure the south had better leadership and that helped. But the ones in the heat of battle were mostly from Virginia.

I suppose us losing to an undermanned and poor Vietnam is a terrible point too?

Didn’t North Carolina have the most casualties and send up the most troops?
