The Stonewall Brigade (Virginia) was probably the premier Confederate infantry unit. They were known as "foot cavalry" for their speed of march. For sheer bravado, some Texas cavalry regiment once charged a Yankee gunboat. The outcome was less than favorable, but they had balls.

On the Union side, the Iron Brigade(Wisconsin) has a pretty good claim

And how is that? The battle field was much more level in the Civil War, and the North invaded the South. They couldn't figure out how to defend their home, yet the Vietnamese did.

the War in Vietnam didn’t take place in North Vietnam, so they didn’t really defend anything.

Because militarily, the United States didn’t lose to the North Vietnamese. I don’t really see how not losing a single battle constitutes the US military losing the war.

The US government walked away and didn’t fulfill their obligation to the south but the US didn’t lose the war in a military sense.

ETA: but this thread isn’t about the Vietnam war. It’s about the damn Civil War.

I'm not arguing the larger point but lots if not most of the VC were from the south.

If Brock Lesner and I spend 2 rounds in the octagon and he decides to go home and not finish the fight and I still have a pulse I'm calling it a win.

correct. The VC were a political organization of South Vietnam who sided with the NVA.

the point i was trying to make is that the NVA had nothing to defend, essentially. the war took place in South Vietnam.

Patrick Cleburne's Arkansas Brigade would be my vote. He was one of the top military generals of the Civil War, and his men fought hard for him and held him in very high regard.

Couldn’t say, but I do have a little tidbit for our resident Yankee cock gobblers. Just read tonight that the NRA was founded by 2 former union soldiers and a New York journalist to train folks up north to shoot, because it was believed that one of the reasons the Civil War lasted as long as it did was because the southern boys were vastly superior shots than their yankee counterparts.
