I know Louisiana is the only state where a group of guys will start drinking at 7:00 am, and "the best way to make a roux" is a possible conversation.

When America was being immigrated to by the white man, most of the uppity city folk moved to the north. Those people are generally very idealistic hypocrites who revel in things like segregation, bullshite causes, progressivism for progressivism sake, etc... Their jobs define them as does their social class. Most men wouldn't go the kitchen because it may make their neighbors perceive them as a lower class or his wife as powerful and thus their life would be worth less in their own eyes. Also, community is much less valued. These idealistic class driven hypocrites tend to avoid social interaction unless there is a chance for climbing the class ladder or the appearance at such an event is necessary to keep the class facade they have developed. There is much less free exchange of ideas or cultures because the thought of actually freely speaking one's mind is terrifying as they only understand bullshite fake shallow conversation.

The farmers and those who worked the land and the country people from the outskirts of those cities moved to the south. Those people are generally more laid back, more together, more welcoming, etc... Families function as a unit rather than a power structure. Men and women cook. Both can clean and both can work. The communities, and thus the cultures, music, food, etc.. are very mixed in the south. We judge ourselves on our actions and our abilities not the title of the job we hold or the class structure we belong to. And community is important, unlike the north. Large gettogethers of people of all types have facilitated the mixing of cultures and the sharing of ideas.

This is why the South is better in almost every single aspect than the north.

Y'all can put a bunch of shite in a pot a boil it. Good for you.

South Carolinians can't even manage to do that right. If you'd put some spices in your "Low Country Boils" they wouldn't be tasteless garbage. I lived in Georgia for more than a decade. Georgia and South Carolina cooking started in British penal colonies and hasn't improved much since.

Well you're from Bama, so most anything would seem a good cook by comparison.

This is true.
It seems that while I can cook a lot of good shite, I can't cook for a family of 3 without having 3 days of leftovers.

People in Louisiana have got to be the most clueless about what others cook and eat in other parts of the country/ world

Well, I was born in the Midwest and have lived in 11 states in all parts of the country. And have traveled the world. And was fortunate to marry into a Cajun family. I'll take Louisiana food over any place I've been. And if you've ever worked in a plant you know that Cajun men can cook. Louisiana is the clear answer to the question, IMO.

Look I miss real Cajun food daily out here and yes you baws can cook. But we have a ton of men here in non traditional roles, crazy diverse culture and an abundance of cheap produce. The boys here can cook variety....and that shits good. Although I would love some couche couche right about now...

Top 3 or 5? sure. But to say Louisiana is the clear answer is a bit much.

Louisiana men should always know how to cook.

I pride myself on it.

We hosted a Christmas evening meal for the family. I have 4 siblings and everyone brought something. Only one of the males and one of the females of the five couples did not cook something (but they all had separate family meals at their house).

I cooked: Turkey, rice, gravy, corn Maque choux (also made omelettes for the the family for breakfast)

My wife cooked Baked Potato soup, pecan pie and lace cookies (she likes to bake and cook party food).

My brother baked a ham and an artichoke casserole
his wife: Didn't cook

Sister # 1 cooked a spinach casserole, her husband cooked Duck and sausage gumbo

Sister #2 cooked a meat dressing, husband cooked homemade macaroni and cheese

sister # 3 cooked oyster dressing, her husband didn't cook

I'd say that in my family, for holiday meals, the work is split fairly evenly among the men and women. And I would rank the quality of the cooking fairly evenly between the men and the women.

In my home, I cook better than my wife (she is just not confident). My wife cooks party food and bakes very well.

Just because 3/4 residents are fatasses, doesn't mean good cooks abound. You guys are fatties because you eat expensive and terribly unhealthy foods (keeping you broke, and on the verge of untimely death; oh, the irony).

Good cooks are in Colorado and California, where people actually give a shite about eating healthy and taking time to prepare a good meal.

What the hell are you talking about?

Do you generalize this drastically on matter of race, creed, religion?

GFY, Loser.
