Chimps and some Monkeys in parts of the world have been observed using stone tools. That places them in their "Stone Age". While others might start off immediately with advantages, those Chimpanzees and Monkeys will eventually master stone better and start turning the tide.

...then eventually evolve back into humans and then we kill ourselves off again.

Alligators/crocodiles. Only dinosaurs still around for a reason. Can eat you on land or in the water.

If squirrels could ever figure out not to stop, panic & change directions 2 or 3 times when they run out in front of a car, they'd rule...That's their only flaw.
