not sure if marines belong on that list there, Volod.

Fine service, but naval infantry is hardly special forces

The Marines. The subject of the threat is not branches of the military, rather the special forces components of the military. By that standard, the US Marine Corps is not considered to be a "Special Force" in an of itself. Yes, there are elements of the Marine Corps that are Special Forces, but that does not encompass the entirety of the Marines. For example a Force Recon Marine can be said to be Special Forces. But a Marine artilleryman, rifleman, tanker, mechanic, clerk, etc., etc. cannot be considered Special Forces.

Of the others that you listed...

-Rangers
-Navy Seals
-Green Berets
-Air Force Special Tactics Officers

They are all considered as Special Forces.

Recon

Not all Marines are Force Recon. In fact, only a small minority of Marines are Force Recon. As I said above, those Marines who are Recon can be considered Special Forces. But regular Marines cannot.

The pulls ups listed aren't talking about the kind you do with a rig.

I worked with Bob & Bob from ODA1 (Delta). Let them use my interpreter. Yes, they had the obligatory neck beards and Red Sox hats :)

That's all I got :P

I understand what you are saying Darth

In my defense, the Marines advertise themselves heavily on being combat excellent.

In the public sphere, it is more well known that the other branches have multiple responsibilities. The Marines seem to focus so much on combat, it almost seems like all they care about is amphibious warfare.

Key word there being "advertise". BTW, one of my last duties on active duty in the US Army was as an instructor training Marine tanker recruits at the US Army's Armor School at Fort Knox.

Amphibious warfare is their sole purpose for existing other than to guard ships. The main branch that shoulders the main responsibility for ground combat was, is, and always will be the US Army.

The is a great book called, "The Command" which is about JSOC (DEVGRU, CAG, etc.). It makes mention of the Army's ISA (Intelligence Support Activity) being shrouded in secrecy and really badass.

One ISA officer was kidnapped in the ME in the last decade by AQ if memory serves. Not only did he escape...he walked out the front door after killing all of his captors.

There is no doubt that the training that our special forces and the like go through is crazy. However, I am of the mindset that there are probably individuals out there we do not know about that receive training that is beyond that of the forces we know about...including DEVGRU< CIA SAD and Delta (CAG).
