I don't know when they went through (what RIP class) but my experience was that initial Indoc was tougher training. Ranger school is not easy, but as I said, serving in Regiment prior made my Ranger school experience less harsh. Your buddies may have a different opinion. Mine is a first hand experience so TIFWIW
I believe you and I think we're basically saying the same thing.

Probably discussed but I'll repeat it if so.
Which group was it that had pool training? It was on Discovery. They had to swim 50 meters underwater in fatigues with BOOTS. In a 25 meter pool so they had to make a turn! Also they had their hands and feet bound. Again in fatigues and had to dolphin kick to the surface, catch a breath and sink to the bottom. Repeat 15 or 20 damn times.
I believe during something they had to dive for their masks too?
It was horrendous and fascinating. Guys were literally passing out while swimming due to hypoxia and fatigue. Hilarious exchange. "Sir, I am alright !" "NO, you are not. You just fell asleep under 6 feet of water! Go sit down. "
I believe it was Seabies or Air Force rescue diver/swimmer.

I believe this particular drill you are referring to is the CWST or combat water survival test and it is a part of Ranger school. However, Marines incorporate this I to their basic training and it is incorporated into any special operations training. It is quite entertaining to see folks start hitting the pool when they can't swim.

Sounds like the National Guard baw.

Tell you what, you tell me how I am a poser??? What the hell is not true about what I said anywhere in this thread?
Posted on 8/11/16 at 11:51 am to Lakeboy7
So what you're saying is serving in a special operations infantry unit prior to entering a school for regular soldiers would not make you more well prepared? I'm not a poser my friend , you are just a goddamn idiot.

Ranger School is more difficult than RASP, if you had bee through the course you would know that and to say otherwise is laughable.
You stated (correctly) that you cant be in the regiment without first completing the Ranger course...then you stated your time and training in the Regiment helped you prepare for the Ranger course.
Embrace the fact you are a POG, I'm sure you do something important for the Army.

I think you're wrong Lake. Pretty sure there are plenty of privates in the regiment that haven't been to Ranger School.

I never said anywhere that Ranger SCHOOL was required before being assigned to a battalion, hats fricking stupid. What I said was that being in regiment prior to going to RS helped me get through RS much easier. Ranger school is a leadership development course, RASP is for soldiers who are trying to become members of the 75th Ranger regiment.

I must have missed out.

If you are a soldier in the 75th regiment they will send you to Ranger SCHOOL as part of your leadership development.

You a swim-qual 4 baw.
Gets pretty rigorous if you can actually swim and make it to day 2.

This is not true. Every one I've ever met in the Army went to Ranger School.

If you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't call this man out like this. When you complete RIP/RASP you do not go straight to Ranger training. You go your battalion and do the same training as all the other Rangers while waiting for a slot in Ranger training. This can be as long as 1year. So what he said isn't bullshite.
