With Christmas morning coming up, it's time to round up your slotted and Phillips head screwdrivers. Age old question, which type of screw do you prefer?

Prefer Torx. As long as you have the bits handy, it's a lot easier to work with

Square or Torx if actually trying to fasten something together. Flat heads should be outlawed and phillips have their place in low strength applications such as drywall

We already had Philips screws and then someone decided to be different.

Allen and Phillips are both fine if they are deep enough (heh...deep, screw...heh) but otherwise it's too easy to strip when you're dealing with something that has been overtightened.

I'm more of a flathead guy myself because even if you don't have a screwdriver handy, you can always break out a butterknife or guitar pick and go to work.

Eh they have their place. Less prone to stripping out than phillips, if they get gunked up they're easy to clean out, you can turn them with a knife, dime, or whatever.

ETA also they're used to prevent people from using power tools (easily), on switch/outlet plates for example, so they aren't overtightened.

I essentially do this for a living and star/torx engagements are easily the best. There's some other good designs out there as well but they're specialized or rare.
