I was born in 1969 so in my lifetime 2008 would have to be the best most substantial amount of snow that I’ve ever seen

2008. I remember waking up and it was snowing and surely thought they’d cancel school. Nope. School buses still running like normal, came and picked us up, brought us to school. Then we just sat in one class room for like 2 hours before the school board realized they needed to send us all home. So they made everyone’s parents come and pick up their kids. It was a shitshow tbh but I was a kid so I was oblivious to it. Crazy how different the schools are now for these snow events or any weather really.

December 11, 2008 • Around 3–4 inches of snow fell across Baton Rouge. This event marked the most significant snowfall in decades.

Had a drilling engineering final in the AM then got apocalyptically drunk while fricking around in the snow all day. Good times.

1973 ..My grandmother stood on the porch in NOLA and said the snow was because we had gone to the moon and shot holes in the atmosphere..I was 8 but totally remember her saying that. Thanks for the memory coming back.

Yeah, same age group. I remember mom helping me fashion my first snowman, and making snow ice cream with condensed milk. Had to eat around some grass and a few twigs, but overall very tasty as I recall.

1 January 2002.

I say this because for me it was long awaited. I got a small taste of snow in March of ‘93 then we had a couple of major busts during prime childhood, which made me very sad.

Slid down the Indian Mounds at LSU on pizza boxes.

What a time to be a Tiger. What a time to be alive.

I remember the one in 2008. Pretty sure it was finals week. Didn’t really think it was that bad but any snow is an “event” I guess.

But the draught ended on the glorious night that LSU destroyed Illinois in the 2002 Sugar Bowl (2001 season).

This one for me. Fell asleep in the car with my dad driving home after the sugar bowl. Woke up in the neighborhood with sheets of snow. Had never seen snow before. I was amazed. The next day was so much fun.

2008 I was living in the LSU dorms my freshman year. Had a final that day. Professor emailed the class and said that if you couldn’t get to campus, you could skip the final if you were ok with your final grade. I hopped on that shite.

We had a blast that day.

You missed the best snow event of them all that occurred the night of January 1, 2002. Never was a ride home in the snow more enjoyable than the morning after Nick Saban won his first Sugar Bowl.

Born and raised in BR and that was my senior year of high school and the first and only time that I remember snow in Baton Rouge. Started up mid morning if I remember correctly and by 11:00 or so, they shut schools down and let us go home early.

Wasn't a lot, but we did build a few snowmen, although they had lots of leaves and twigs mixed in.

Was eating lunch at a sorority house ( Houseboy free food and easy dates) and I looked up and there was all this white stuff coming down.

Huge snowball fight with the lambda chis....all in good fun.

Wasn't there a small one in the early 00s that happened during or right after an LSU bowl game?

Got to 0 degrees at Toledo bend. Went to Lake Conroe during that time. Hit golf balls onto the ice from the dock on the "bayou" thing.
