Which is harder to believe? 9/11 was 15+ years ago, or Katrina was 11+ years ago?

For me, Katrina and the aftermath are still fresher in my mind (thus, making the time since it happened harder to believe) due to the events in Louisiana since (Gustav, Issac, 2016 Floods).
Regardless, it's weird that both evens are more than a decade old. I would imagine that they have made their way into some American History textbooks by now.

they both seem about right.

it makes me feel really old that freshmen in HS were not alive for 9/11

Ew what a horrible thing to think. Now I feel old.

It's harder for me to believe that Saigon fell 42 years ago.

My son's about to turn 11, so it's not hard to believe Katrina was that long ago.

Both equally believable lengths of time

Katrina. Seems just like yesterday National Guard troops were patrolling the neighborhood where my business was with automatic rifles.

9/11 for me... still seems like such a vivid memory.
Katrina didn't really effect me as much. I didn't even know about Katrina until almost 2 weeks after it happened.

The death of Dale Earnhardt.

9/11 is more vivid for me.
Katrina also has a personal moment for us; it was roughly two weeks after our first born had arrived and Katrina was in the Gulf and getting bigger by the day. We didn't know if it would come to Houston or not, so we watched pretty closely.
Fast forward 3 years, our second arrival is here, true to form, two weeks go by and we have Ike bearing down on us.

What's crazier for me is that two of my three kids are post-9/11 and too young to remember Katrina. They will have no frame of reference for it at all.

9/11
9/11 made it into the edition of my US History textbook that was published right as I graduated (3 years after it happened)

Do us all a favor and stop having kids

I still can't believe they made the movie Miami Vice.

9/11. Time is flying by. It feels like six months ago. I was 29, now I'm an old fart.

I was a sophomore at LSU during 9/11. It freaks me out that was almost 16 years ago. Time really does feel like it speeds up the older you get. Just can't believe I'm pushing 40 in a year or two. How is it time goes by so quick, but days like today where I'm working on 2 hours of sleep, they last forever?!
