Mtn Brook and Buckhead are completely different. But Congrats to your cousin. Mtn Brook is a fantastic town for a family.

Druid Hills seems more akin to Mountain Brook.

Plenty of avg houses in Mt Brook. Lots of really nice homes too.

I think it’s a bit too “old money” for me but it’s a very nice place to live.

Define better. Both have houses, shopping, etc. Buckhead is definitely more upscale.

Mountain Brook

Buckhead

If you are referring to Madison, MS, it has no place in this discussion. 35 years ago the vast majority of that big box haven was nothing but cow pasture.

The Druid Hills comparison is probably much better than Buckhead. I believe Buckhead alone has almost double the office square footage of Downtown Birmingham.

Buckhead. Children raised in Buckhead will be better equipped to flourish in a global economy. Mountain Brook is too sheltered.

What does flourish mean?

If it means have a strong nuclear family with a sense of community and access to opportunities for high paying employment, then Mountain Brook will be just fine.

Mountain Brook is beautiful and if your children will never need to work it is a great place. But Buckhead has far more access to diversity, employers, opportunity etc. If you are raised in Mountain Brook your surroundings do not represent the rest of the country.

Girls my daughter meet on a summer trip to Fiji from buckhead were like something out of a freaking wives of x tv show. Incredibly stupid, snobby bitches from hell with dysfunctional families. (And she gets along with everyone and is popular cheerleader, etc. And has tons of friends with super rich parents.) it was really unbelievable.

She has tons of friends from Mountainbrook area. Just from that, and the fact that the war on drugs started in Buckhead I would go with Mountainbrook. Both are right next to shitholes
