2003-06 G35 is still the best thing Infinity produced

Volvos are a little cramped and not the greatest ride compared to others in each class. We had an xc60. Super reliable but I stand by my original statement. We rented a new xc90 last year for a long road trip and absolutely loved it. Again the ride was a little bumpier than others in its class but the technology was great (bluetooth worked perfect for car play) and it's a beautiful SUV. That being said, a good friend bought a xc90 a few years ago and they've already turned it in for a Grand Highlander due to so many issues. It was a hybrid model though, so that could have played a role...
We currently have a qx60 and love it. Reading all these other posts, may just have lucked out. However, it is extremely comfortable and the ride is great. The technology is definitely lacking though. My 2017 Sierra has better tech and features than it does (2020 model).
Will need a new one in a few years and my wife would like to just get a new qx60 given how much we like it, but Inifiti certainly has some business issues to work out before we commit.

I prefer Volvo over Infinity. I don't know much about either company these days.
But I've never been a fan of Nissan/Infinity.

Yukon/Tahoe? How’s it treating you? Looking at those but the internet horror stories have me hesitant.

Had two infinitis. Both suffered similar design flaws, causing water to back up from the sunroof drainage lines and flood the floorboard from behind the dashboard.
Between that, spending $137 for a replacement highbeam bulb that I changed myself, and other ridiculous repair costs, I sold my last one and bought a Toyota.
I had a G35 and a G37. Loved both of them, especially since the first was a gift from my dad when he was ready to move on to something different, but ultimately I couldn’t justify the maintenance costs.

The future of Volvo is a little shaky right now.

Altimas are very solid. Look at all of the 10+ year old ones on the road with body damage and not being maintained.

In a perfect world, you would take a Volvo every single time. Repair costs are way worse on a Volvo. Infiniti are nice too but they're truly just well-maintained Nissans, which isn't the worst thing. Volvo has a very strong reputation for safety and is a reliable vehicle. The problem comes when you are not living in that perfect world and have to replace something on a Volvo. At least with Infiniti there are generally more places that will be able to service it at a better price, but it's still considered a luxury car and won't be cheap.
Volvo prices are much higher comparing car classes with Infiniti. If you can afford it, get a Volvo.

I never owned an Infinity so I could not make a logical analysis on their brand.
I drive an 2018 XC90 (T5 Momentum Turbo). The car already has 72,000 miles on it and I've had no mechanical issues whatsoever, other than the normal wear and tear such as tires, brakes, etc.
If I had the chance to buy another Volvo or XC90, I would not hesitate.

Constant electrical problems from the infotainment screen freezing and going dark to the car not picking up the keys so it won't start. Got new keys made and had it checked out and same problem. Wife has been stranded before waiting for almost an hour then all of a sudden the car recognizes the key and starts.
They can't figure it out.

we have a xc90 hybrid but I much prefer the jeep grand cherokee hybrid we had before. volvo is going with the no buttons and everything on the touchscreen which is kinda inconvenient when you are driving. I find the inside of the jeep is nicer, infotainment is better, the sound system is better, both rides are equal but I find the jeep steering is a little better. I like both outsides about equal although maybe the jeep is a little sharper. jeep may be a little quieter despite the xc90 supposedly being a very quiet vehicle. it also lacks much storage space on the inside and also connections for peripherals compared to the jeep.
xc90 is known for its safety so maybe all of that is better but compared to a high level jeep grand cherokee 4xe I would go with the 4xe. thats all I have to compare it to. great thing about a 2 year lease is you arent married to it.

Volvo by a mile, but that's like saying Dairy Queen is healthier than Captain D's.

Only POS car I've ever owned was a Volvo. Mrs. Iwy got one 8 or so years ago and I could not get rid of that POS quick enough. I think it was 2 years old when we bought it and it was just constant problems. Didn't even keep it a year. Was fortunate I only lost out about 1k on the purchase/sale price. Will never own another. They also look like crap.

The thread is full of opinions about a manufacturer that those opining don't even know the proper spelling of the company's name. Why would anyone take them seriously?

I’ve had 2 Volvos. Loved them, but will never get another just because of the dealership in BR. You have to go there while under warranty.
