Baton Rouge Traffic
@BR_Traffic
The entrance ramp from Government Street to I-110 North remains blocked due to an accident. Congestion remains minimal. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

I can understand using flashers in the rain.
I would say that the only people that would be worse than people driving with high beams on in the rain is idiots that drive with no lights on at all.

Flashers on in the rain is the worst. Can’t tell when they’re breaking or turning

It's amazing this needs to be explained.
That doesn't need to be explained. When you have to turn or stop, you drive accordingly in the rain. My point is about these people:

No one is suggesting slowing down to a crawl, but to act like a wet road is the same as a dry one defies physics.
Of course they aren't the same. But unless it's an absolute downpour, you can drive very safely on a wet road at normal speeds. The problem is that often times cars do slow down to a crawl because of the rain, especially on the interstate (where there is no/very little natural stopping or turning).

This cannot be said enough.
All adjustments should be made in the right lane.

I didn't mention speed in my response, just adjusting your driving in general.

not all roads have a right lane.

Why are you stopping or turning on an interstate dumbass?
I’m not advocating to go 90 in the rain. If it’s a monsoon, then yeah you probably have to go 40. If it’s just raining, there’s nothing wrong with going 60-70. If you’d get your dumbass out of the left lane and stop sitting behind the 18 wheelers mist, you’d realize that it’s not really raining much at all. An 18 wheelers mist will make it very difficult to see. Pass them up or get the frick out of the way so I can.

I realize that this makes you feel superior and cool, but do you disagree that driving relatively normally in the rain is bad or dumb or dangerous?
I'm not advocating that people drive 20 MPH over the speed limit or anything like that, but the people who slow down to half the speed limit are much more of a hazard to others IMO. You can drive fairly normally unless the weather is downright overbearing (i.e. it's raining so hard you absolutely can't see).
Well driving normally in BR is dangerous. I try to not tailgate people but it seems like if I give people a little big of space, a Nissan Altima or dodge charger will cut in with no blinkers on. I’ve nearly gotten in so many wrecks dealing with the smooth brain drivers we have on the roads here.

who said anything about an interstate?
also, have you driven the interstate in BR?

I am going with the ones who drive with their flashers on.
I have been in heavy downpours, slow with flashers on is the safe method. Was in Alabama mid day in a big storm and everybody slowed down and turned their flashers on. Some idiot zoomed by me not doing either. About 2 miles down the road he had rolled his car and totaled it.
Seems he was the idiot that day.

It was ASSumed.
That’s where the biggest difference happens.
I don’t care if you go 35 or 45 driving around the city. Sure, slow down a bit in the rain.
Posted on 3/17/23 at 10:18 am to Cheese Grits
there is literally NO reason to have your flashers on other than to announce to the world that you are a fricking moron.

Which group of people are the bigger idiots driving when it’s raining?
People with bald tires who tailgate, change lanes suddenly, and also accelerate and break as fast as possible.
I used to drive a big box truck and never had any problem driving 75 in the interstate in the rain. But every time we had any kind of rain there would be people all in the ditches and smashed into guard rails.
Idk how the frick they do it. I guess I'm just more of a defensive driver and anticipate problems before they happen. We need stricter driving tests I guess.
