My son went everywhere with us as a baby. They are so easy. Play, eat, sleep in the carseat (the horror, I know). Rinse, repeat.

Oh another tip, if you end up doing formula. Don't get that baby used to a bottle warmer, you can thank me for that later. Same with a wipe warmer.

The infant stage was my favorite. My child was the easiest baby in the world. We were paid back for that when he was 2-3.

Mine was the exact opposite. He was a complete TERROR as an infant. But we doted on him and took care of his every need. As a result, I think that squelched the terrible twos and threes.

Of course, all bets were off from 8 until adulthood when the hormones started kicking in.

This is the way. It boggles my mind that people condition their kids to be dependent upon warm stuff when it's not always going to be available

Babies generally don't cry without a reason. Figure out the reasons why your baby cries: hunger, dirty diaper, sick, too cold, too hot, etc. Once you learn the reasons why your baby cries, it can help to go down that checklist mentally when your baby is crying.

In a pinch, gentle movement can help a baby get to sleep, but you gotta be careful with that because you don't want to create a bad habit.

Caring for Your Baby and Young Child is helpful.

Good clarification, it's easier to bring them everywhere you go as a baby. For 2 of ours we couldn't take them anywhere from about 18 months to age 4. I didn't know there was such a thing as being allergic to sitting.

How was the potty training phase? We are about to embark on this mission and our trajectory seems similar to yours.

Not bad. We got a dinosaur sticker chart thing off Amazon, and then started trying to work on it at home once daycare started training.

Then he went to visit his grandparents for 2 weeks and came home fully potty trained.

So TBH, we didn't really do a whole lot of the training.

I forgot about his video chat to you.

The kid does love to pick his nose, as much as we request he doesn't.

They like to hide places and poop and pee before you get them used to the potty.

I remember my daughter would blame her little brother for tee-teeing in her diaper

Listen man, there's a lot of luck involved. You might have a kid with colic or you might have a unicorn baby. Just remember that if you have a rough go at it it's just part of the deal and you're probably not doing anything wrong. People rarely have two perfect babies or two terrible babies so if you have a bad run the first time you'll be due a reprieve if you take another run at it.

How old are you? In my experience/observation, if this is what you wanted and you've made peace with the idea that it could suck for a while (whether you're actually ready for it or not) fare 100x better than younger folks who jumped in without thinking and get pissed because they can't drink with their friends, or older couples who decided to have a kid because it was the natural next step and miss their independence, etc. The red-eyed guy who bitches about not sleeping but tells you that it comes with the territory and it's part of the experience (and means it) - you want to be that guy.

If your mindset is that you got yourself into this and you're down for the suck if it comes, you'll be able to handle the ups and downs much better and you'll enjoy it much more. Lean into it for better or worse.

I'd give them ice water baths. Save some money on the gas bill and never have to buy coats.
