I’d strongly consider becoming a wanderer.

Every one of those shows have some people who have their shite together without a home base.

Don’t be a dipshit to people, make some contacts with good people who have a plan that you can stop in to see during your wanderings.

But stay clear of the mini wars that will pop up between groups. That’s the key. Don’t get pulled in to fights that weren’t your business to begin with, just move on.

I actually think my plan of “brutal warlord” is really the best way.

In the event of societal breakdown you’ll have a lot of bad characters and people going crazy, but you’ll also still have a lot good people with skills and knowledge that can rebuild society and bring order. But doing so will take some violence against those who want anarchy and to loot/pillage/rape/murder.

You first must band with like minded people who are wanting to rebuild, then you must secure the area against the more criminal minded by eliminating them. Then you find chores and tasks for those remaining based on their knowledge. Build farms, hunting, gathering, form a government with laws to police behavior. Form a militia to protect from outside groups
