Heading there with the wife before a work event next week. She can only be out there from Saturday to Monday so I had thought about the following:

1. Grab lunch downtown after landing

2. Go over the bridge go to the Marin Forest

3. Go to Sausalito for dinner and stay there for the night

4. Wake up and ?????

5. Drive down to half moon bay down the PCH

6. Stay there for the night

What would your suggestions be? We are saving wine country for a trip with more time. We havent booked any hotels yet. You all have never let me down.

Watch out for the gays and liberals. I'd rather use the money I'd spend in San Francisco to take 8-10 trips to a more wholesome, much less expensive, and equally as fun place like Monroe.

I would suggest finding another board with more travel experience folks to ask this. Posting this here, especially at night, is just asking for a bunch of gay jokes, etc.

Westin St. Francis is a good location. Half Moon Bay is a pain in the arse IMO. Had a great dinner once at Slanted Door.

This poster made an outstanding guide.

It was for a Saints game, so keep in mind some of the references to the Saints are because of that.

The guide is so well put together.

Alcatraz tour is a must as well as a trip to Muir Woods. If you have your SO with you, I'd also recommend Beach Blanket Babylon . Great show.

I live in the east bay, here is my suggestion:
Rome through the city, take cable/street cars to which ever stop you choose, eat, explore some more. There is so much to do.... Just don't set an itinerary.

1. City Lights Bookstore

quote:

City Lights is an independent bookstore-publisher combination in San Francisco, California that specializes in world literature, the arts, and progressive politics. It also houses the nonprofit City Lights Foundation, which publishes selected titles related to San Francisco culture. It was founded in 1953 by poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Peter D. Martin (who left two years later). Both the store and the publishers became widely known following the obscenity trial of Ferlinghetti for publishing Allen Ginsberg's influential collection Howl and Other Poems (City Lights, 1956). City Lights is located at 261 Columbus Avenue, on the nexus of North Beach and Chinatown in San Francisco.

So would you suggest doing that after we land? Have always heard great things about Sausalito and figured that would be a nice play to stay the night. I stayed near Union square on a previous trip and while it is fun, i think getting out of the city would be nice. I loved getting down to HMB last time so wanted to take her down the PCH to see the views.

By the way what would traffic look like if my wife has a 9:00 flight on Monday? What time would i realistically need to leave the hotel if we stay in HMB?

if you have a car and were thinking half moon bay, might as well go down to Monterey, go to the aquarium or something

San Francisco is a beautiful city, one if my favorite. I see more flamboyant weirdos in New Orleans and Atlanta. Go to the wharf, haite Ashbury, Alcatraz, golden gate bridge. Nothing to see in Oakland but shipping ports.
