Thanks for all the great responses, and even the amusing shitty ones.

Big help.

Appears I'm choosing between Houston, LaPlace and West Virginia.

I used to live off of Perrier not to far from the theatre. It’s a lovely area. The only crime issue were folks breaking into cars. I suggest leaving car door unlocked.

Can you narrow it down to a couple block area? Sounds like a good spot.

Between St Charles and Prytania and Upperline and Robert.

Uptown. Teach her a few lessons about not getting arse-drunk, remember to always lock the doors, etc... Lakeview is utterly boring to a single 20-something.

Agreed.

If I'm going to live in New Orleans, I'm going to live in New Orleans. If I'm going to have to drive to go anywhere desirable in the city, then I might as well live in Metairie.

All of the drawbacks of Metairie (and New Orleans), without any of the benefits of New Orleans. I don't get it at all.

The problem is that living in the real NOLA has become very unaffordable.

this young lass is an attorney tho... she should be fine

And Lakeview isn't cheap for the decent places.. there were multiple comps last month over $300 / sq. ft.. one was over $340

70118/70115/lakeview if she’s looking for a house - WHD if she’s looking for a condo to rent. All “safer” areas minus a car break in or porch pirate

If you're just renting, and you're a single person, it doesn't seem that bad. Especially in the OPs scenario where his daughter will be splitting rent.

Agreed; renting is still a pretty good deal in the city, especially the condos downtown..
