Anywhere in the 70501 area. Pretty safe place, cheap real estate, and good schools.

Would NEVER live there. Not safe, real estate is cheaper due to bad schools and crime. It is Northside..oh..i mean Lafayette North

I'm sure.
School of choice has done a lot to make our schools worse but if you stay in Honors/Gifted classes, LHS is a very good school.
Woodvale, Broadmoor, Alleman and Edgar Martin are all schools that I'd send my future children to. I've heard good things about Plantation, Ernest Gallet, S.J. Montgomery and L. Leo Judice as well.
LHS is the only public high school I'd send them to.

Broussard or youngsville, schools I'd say stm, teurlings, or Notre Dame.

Youngsville is great for families. However, if you have a commute into the center of Lafayette your commute is gonna suck. The infrastructure and roads have not come close to keeping up w the population boom in the area. There are lots of good hoods in the heart of Lafayette as well. Lots of good private school options. Public schools in some areas are "ok" but I'd go catholic or private.

I used to live in 70501 in Yellowfin's "avoid" area on the map. It was close to ULL. I loved living there. The houses are old and cool and you can walk to downtown bars and restaurants. But if I had chirren I wouldn't want to live there because the schools probably aren't very good.
