I personally think snowshoe is great. Plenty of trails. I would call it moderate as far as difficulty. There are more blues than anything by far. There is a black called cup run that is great imo. I think is is a mile and a half wide open run that is labeled a black but is really a blue. The only one with moguls that I remember was a black called widowmaker that was short and not really that hard.
When I was their we got 8 inches of snow and there was already a decent amount on the ground.
IMO snowshoe is easily the best on the east coast. I've skied in Aspen and out west and the blacks at Snowshoe are like blues in Aspen.
I would call it a moderate mountain with wide trails.

Red Mountain, Fernie, Panarama, Whitewater are all very easily sub 1000 dollar destinations with fantastic terrain.

ski cooper is my budget go to ski resort. you can get a day pass for 30 bucks, 4 day for 100 last time I was there.

Go to Mount Baker Washington and stay in Bellingham . Lift tickets are 50-60 bucks, tons of snow

I can't tell if the OP is experienced at all or not, knows what to expect from altitude or not, but most of the Colorado areas are high enough for that to be a concern.
Steamboat is great skiing, ski-resort night life at the resort and locals night-life in the town, and much lower.

I've gone through UBski several times for "college ski packages". You don't even have to be a current student to do it. Looking at their website, you can get a 5 night package for 400-600 per person in Breckenridge including lift and lodging. Depending on how big your group is, it would be worth emailing them for a quote for your planned days.

Taos, New Mexico is an awesome spot. It’s about a 30 minute drive to Angel Fire also If your a little more advance Taos has a nice spot with a bunch of blue slopes. We stayed last year and the price difference from staying in Taos vs Angel Fire was insane.
