You'd have to do it from the inside out in a non traditional sense.
No one in our hemisphere is capable of a traditional invasion and it's logistically impossible for enemies overseas to engage us traditionally as well.
If anyone tried it, nuclear war would ensue and we'd all likely be dead anyway.

Get your emigrants "seeds" up to 20%-25% of any political subdivision. Vote your people into office.
Expand your group to other political subdivisions. Keep voting your people into office.
Rinse and repeat. Change the laws to castrate the status quo. Continue the patterns and take over without a shot being fired.

Successfully invading the US would be pretty much an impossible task. Military complex is just too damn big to go against. Not to mention all of the citizens who have weapons as well.

Starting on the west coast seems pretty dumb considering the military presence. If the progs in Portland and Seattle cause you to forget about JBLM then you aren't gonna mount much of an invasion...

The best is down from the dakotas. Take Chicago. Hold the place as a bargaining chip. Then go towards the Ohio river splitting the country again from the Mason Dixon line. Also get the gold at Fort Knox(if there is any there)
Use the Mississippi and Tennessee river/ river in Augusta Ga to hold off the army from Texas military bases and Fort Benning.
After that I dunno. Landscape of the west and its vastness is too much. Get 2/3 of the population under our control. Although that may be bad too
