LINK
1. Texas
2. Kansas
3. Florida
4. Oklahoma
5. Nebraska
I was shocked the number one was Texas. Don’t hear about them there that much compared to the Midwest states

Texas is almost the size of the rest of the top 5 combined. Not too surprising

DFW up through Wichita Falls is a tornado magnet

Texas is just bigger. The greatest density of tornados is northern Alabama.

I feel like Florida is the only surprise on that list.
I hear about Texas tornadoes all the time.

Florida having more than Oklahoma might surprise some people
Texas having the most won't surprise anyone

The surprise to me was that Florida gets more than Oklahoma and Nebraska.

I wouldn't think so but it did cross my mind

Florida is high on tornado count but the tornadoes are usually very weak. Since 1950, there have only been four Florida storms that reached EF-4 status and the state has never seen an EF-5. I think a vast majority of Florida's tornadoes have been spawned by hurricanes impacting the coastline.
EF-4s are much more common in Mississippi and Alabama. And Alabama and Oklahoma have seen more EF-5s than any other state in the union.

Trailer parks. They hit trailer parks.

We get tornado warnings all the time here in Florida, but as mentioned before, they are all weaklings.

For strong tornadoes, though, Oklahoma takes the cake. And Florida is pretty tame.
