Mosquito spray trucks have managed to kill most bugs except mosquitoes

These factors didn't stop them the last two years.
I checked on ChatGTP's source and that was from an article in October of 2023...last year.
So the numbers were down last year probably because of the relatively bad drought we had last summer.
This year the numbers might still be down because they still have not recovered from last years love bug genocide caused by the drought.

They put stuff in the water that turned them gay.

Do hummingbirds eat them? Because hummingbirds are everywhere here, in a good way.

I ride a motorcycle, so frick a bunch of love bugs. I have a windshield on my cruiser but a buddy of mine was riding his bike without one.
We got to where we were heading after about 3 hours on the road and when he walked up to the crowd we were meeting up with, he got the nickname "Bugsplat" and it's stuck.
Cleaning a motorcycle after riding through swarms of love bugs is a hell of a lot harder than cleaning a car.

Sounds like the drought last year knocked their population down and they have not recovered.
It didn't stop crane flies back in the Spring.

Since they are no longer spray where I live, fireflies/lightning bugs are coming back. I want grandkids to eventually catch them like we did.
With that said.....frick love bugs

Paint something outside. They’ll find it.

Haven't seen a one yet and September is the month for love bugs.
Figured after the hurricane that came thru that they would come out but nope.

I noticed this last weekend. I saw one single love bug by himself, and realized I had never seen that before. Its normally huge swarms.

Sounds like someone pushing climate change to me.

Are they important to the food chain? In other words, if they were extinct would it have any impact on any other animals that might feed off of them?
