Different for every dog. My bulldog had free reign when he was 6 months old.
My wife's dog is 4, and if it's too hot or cold for him to stay outside, he stays in his kennel.

Ours was probably good to stay out when she was 2. We still put her in her "house" most of the time becuase she loves it and usually lays in there anyway. She runs in when she sees me putting my shoes on.

My dog came with my wife. I keep both in a kennel when I’m out.
But seriously one time before we were married we very nearly ended things and I cried because I wouldn’t be able to see the dog again.
I’m not sure but I might have married her just so I could keep the dog.

Key word there is herding. Not meant to be in a pen while you nine-key in a W2 cubicle. fricking cruel.

Never, I probably could have after a year because I have left the crate open during the day when I went to work and nothing happened. He was house broken very early and went 3 1/2 without using the bathroom in the house then all of a sudden he is marking every corner in my house. I don't know what to do so he stays in his kennel at work.

This thread is why I guess I prefer cats as pets. They are so low maintenance compared to dogs. I agree that dogs are more enjoyable to be around but the cost just isn't worth the reward.

I tried crating my golden retriever when he was a pup. It didn't work out to well which is partially my fault, but i would still throw him in the crate.
I stopped crating him when I came home one night and he was covered in diarrhea in his crate from eating something bad. I felt bad and took my chances and luckily it worked out. Of course I made sure to put anything away he could possibly eat or destroy.
Love my boy.

I have a similar question. But it’s in reference to my girlfriend. Any ideas? TIA

Why don't you people just leave the fricking dogs outside the way God intended?

My dog is 4. Still gets in crate when we leave the house. She will get bored and destroy shite
She stays out over night and is fine though
And she loves her crate. It's her bed.

I crated my dog for 3 Days. After 3 days he learned how to break out of it. Now he sleeps in my bed between my wife and I
