Old school Folsom stuff is top notch, but they have been acquired by WallStreet types who have introduced a foreign line and drastically increased the catalogue. Most of the new stuff is overpriced hipster garbage. The stuff you want has the white label with red printing and is made in the factory in Seattle. Be sure to stop in if you ever get the chance. You can watch the workers through a window as they produce everything. It’s right by Safeco field.

I can fully understand spending money on warm coveralls and coats but a spending 125 bucks on a shirt is not my bag.

Being warm is important, being pretty is just weird.

But that’s just my opinion.

You’re right to some degree. We’ve all seen cases where it’s blatant.

But I prefer to think of all that extra stuff as bait.

Bait for my kids. I want to spend as much time with them as I can while I can. Because it won’t be long before they’re out from under my roof.

Also, the more time my kids spend in sports and outdoor activities the less time they’re looking at a screen. And the less time they have to find trouble.

I consider it money well spent.

Bad example, there are printed T shirts that go for $400+. Peruse the Saks Fifth Avenue web site.

I’m not poor. Upper middle class actually. My wife is a CPA and I’m an engineer. I just don’t have to show off like you rednecks. Small town bullshite is the worst. You probably ride around with Yeti, Salt Life and Mossy Oak stickers. But carry on.

Not too many of the SEC states with enough of that kind of hunting to justify that price.

It’s has zero use in the duck/deer/turkey hunting we do here and it’s way too fancy for dove hunting.

Most likely more a function of it being worn twice a year if that...

Hunting and fishing cosplay is something I will never understand...but I know it is a thing. Kid on a site I was at last week doing start up testing in a Sitka hoodie. Beats all I ever slept with...

My grandfather killed any and every animal you wanted in work clothes. He kept food on table. Now you need $30,000 worth of shite to hunt. $15,000 Side by side, $5,000 in hunting clothes, $5,000 in guns, etc. it’s one big game/show now. We are idiots.

That is my plan for the zombie apocalypse...I can provide for my families nourishment with abouot $350,000 worth of boats, guns, ammo and designer clothing. We are set....

Perhaps some people just like nice hunting gear? They have the means and they buy it. What’s wrong with that? If you can’t afford it or choose to spend your money in a different manner, that’s fine. But why dismiss another person’s investment because you disagree with it? Especially when it has no effect on you?

I would posit that most of the stuff Filson's sale today are sold to people who aren't sure which end of a deer has antlers. Take a look at the number of 3/4 ton diesel 4wds being driven by a 105 pound woman to get her nails done. It is more about looking the part than actually participating in the activity....

Buy quality gear, have quality gear for life and beyond. I own plenty of 10yo Filson products, but also own and wear 60yo hunting gear from my Grandfather's closet. Nobody will be inheriting those Chink Mossy Oak shirts because you will be using them as rags before they are 4 years old.

Filson has been infiltrated by the hipster elite much like Carhartt

Unlike Carhartt they haven’t compromised much on quality

Carhartt is a good example...I can remember when you had to go out of your way to buy a brown carhartt jacket or coveralls and you did it so you wouldn't freeze at work and the damned things would last forever....I have one that is 40 years old, has a nice coating of cutting oil and is still warm and comfortable...I bet the only one sold today that is still functional in 2063 will have hung in a closet 39.9 of those 40 years....
