Seeing other universities libraries in the SEC I always felt embarrassed being inside the Middleton library. We have to have the worst library in the country. I remember last year hearing about getting a new library but I haven’t heard anything about it since then.
I would love if LSU got a library like Ohio state

It can't be far down the list. The new business school is legit though. Way nicer than CEBA when I was there.

What does a new library have to do with LSU football?

Buquet & Leblanc is jumping on this project as soon as they can free up their downtown crew.

ETA: They have a real “crack” team of library construction experts.

Interesting...I'll have to check it out when I am down for a game this year. Do you know if it is open on home game days?

Seriously?

I think that is the ugliest and most poorly designed building on campus.

I like it. The inside is pretty cool too. I've had a few business meetings there. I suppose everyone's tastes are different though.

My Alma Mater--only school I toured my two college-age sons through at which the tour guides purposely avoided the library.

Shaq offered a bucket of money years ago for a new library and LSU couldn’t figure out whether to renovate the current location or build a new one so he pulled out.

Even more embarrassing is that a school that size has "a" library, many universities of similar size have several libraries as large as Middleton that are dedicated to individual schools.

What do students even do in libraries anymore besides get Starbucks and plug in their Macbooks?

99% of research that students do is online now and can be done from home.

IF you can access specialized online databases for your research that is fine, but for undergraduate type projects with the students relying on search engine results it is becoming problematic. Google and other search engines are manipulating what you get to see. Also, corporations, political entities etc. are using search engine optimization techniques to ensure you only see information that they have vetted. For example there is a well known life insurance company that has made it impossible to find any data on the internet about their company that they did not approve and release themselves. I find myself now going to libraries more than ever to try to find at least some information that has not been filtered.

The answer is no, the BEC isn't open on game days. Police use one of the computer labs for surveillance and people with keys are forbidden entry and threatened with arrest if they enter on game day.

The single exception is the E.J. Ourso College of Business Alumni reception. It's open for that game.
