I work for GM in Baton Rouge and new cars are not the only issue… sales manager said a lot of vehicles are sold before they even are unloaded of the trucks.

I was just in the market for a new full sized truck. I wanted to test drive Ram, Ford, Chevy, and GMC. This was not easy as many of that dealerships had very limited inventory. Once GMC dealer I went to had two new trucks on the lot. And one of them was sold. While I test drove the other one the sales rep told me they had a truck load of pickups coming in later that day but all we’re already sold except one.

I’m not going to pretend to know what I’m talking about here but logically that seems a bit off. It shouldn’t take 18 months or longer to ramp up production again.

This isn’t poli talk but this is the scenario Trump excelled in the most. He would be trying to get companies locally to ramp up production and would be on the phone non stop with the overseas producers to get them what they need to overcome any hurdles they were experiencing.

They are producing. Taking cars from factory to parking lots all over Dearborn Michigan there are new cars in office building parking lots.

Watched them offload 12 brand new mustangs and line them up. Two more haulers pulled in with new explorers as I was leaving.

I bought a new escape last week as a work vehicle. Lot wasn’t empty but it wasn’t packed.

I asked how bad it was to the salesman and he said they’re happy for every sale, but he has about 5 escapes left and every one that goes, he doesn’t know when it’s going to get replaced.

Every time they get a bronco sport it’s gone in a day.

sounds like dealers maximizing on the "shortage" with none on the lot but I have one or two left on order you can buy. Creating a sense of urgency when in actuality there are 12 or 24 in an office parking lot.

No they’re finishing what they can and leaving them partially complete to try to keep the lines running and people employed. The shortage is legit. I have 3000 vehicles left to take delivery of this year across 5 manufacturers. They’re all freaking out trying to get us what we need. I highly doubt they would jack around someone with the purchasing power we have to play a game.

Their are Ford office buildings with hundreds of F250s lined up waiting for the chips to be loaded and shipped.

They may slow production since they are nearing the end of the model year but they have been producing.

Agreed. If there was one thing he pegged correctly, it was the reliance on foreign production being our downfall. I’ll argue that he didn’t do enough, but a lot of that had to do with trying to suck up to Xi and Democrats being asshoes.

Drove by Richards Honda today. They had maybe 15-20 used vehicles and maybe 5 new ones on the entire lot. Shits going to hit the fan for these dealerships when they have no product to sell, and light bills to pay. It’s a bad situation all around.

Most dealerships are preselling all of their vehicled and making bank.

While I agree a slump is coming, don't let product not being on display make you think they arent selling vehicles.

Ford has trucks parked in huge lots all over Dearborn MI. Most Ford office parking lots are full of new trucks.

I was driving by Kentucky Speedway a month or so ago. Ford has 1000s of F Series trucks parked at the speedway waiting for chips

It's a seller's market. If you need to unload a POS. Now's the time to do it.

The world is getting way more expensive (inflated). I can’t imagine coming out of college, trying to start a family, but your first home, buy a decent car etc now. I’m only 35 but things have become significantly more difficult to get in just the last 10-15 years.

And it’s by design by the globalist powers that be.

Well most people will stick with their “ older” car and pay to get it fixed… which means parts stores should be racking up if they have the supplies to.

There is no lumber shortage.
Was there really a toilet paper shortage?
Is there really an automobile chip shortage?
Or is the shortage artificially created in order to gin up demand?

Parts and service absorbs the overhead costs in a dealership.
Sales is normally a very small profit margin.
