Elementary school pe teacher here.. I first heard of this 3 years ago from a kid that came from another school...quickly corrected him and told him we call it Indian style at our school!

It was definitely Indian style when I was kindergarten through whenever I had to sit Indian style. This was about 1998-2001

Honestly I thought you were right at first until I looked it up.


Given that it is a sitting style used most all over the world, it makes sense to just call it sitting cross legged. Except of course for the fact that some men are afraid their penises will fall off if they dont use the term Indian style.

Learned about this shite this year too. Its a god damn tragedy that we can't use Indian Style anymore. We were paying homage to the Indians now they aren't even in the conversation.
