Were I not so immersed in work, I could have made some big coin from Volvo. Car saved my life, for real. The controller of my most important client came out and took me to their complex, and the police were still shaking their heads as to how I had came out alive.

For real.

Major shite.

Was a teenager and working for a crappy company and they had a very heavy (1+ ton) piece of machinery to move. Long story short, one of the casters of one of the dollies collapsed while I was on the floor setting it. The team lost control and the machine started tipping over towards me. I backed away as quickly as I could and came up against a column and pressed back into it as thinly as I could. That machine came slamming down an inch or two from me. I still shudder every time I think about how close I came to being squashed that day.

frick the ice last night. I was leaving my parents' place to go back to LSU and went on autopilot on my normal route... Millerville overpass on I-12E. Realized I was about to try and turn into a barricade so I quickly switched lanes and started fishtailing real bad. I did all I could to fight it and JUST got off the icy overpass and onto relatively stable ground before I started spinning in circles. Stabilized and got away scot-free.

I posted the pics on the OB of my wreck. Cop and tow truck driver said I should have died. No seatbelt busted my head on the windshield, but I dont weigh enough to go out.

Before that when I was 18 I bitched out of meeting my GF's parents in SC for the weekend. She was killed on the way back to college when a Truck driver ran a red light and plowed her. To which I fully blame myself she was driving back in the middle of the night to surprise me

I was on my bike late at night and I got hit by a car pulling out from a street parking spot. I flew off the bike and felt the wind of the side mirror of a garbage truck in the opposite lane blow my face. A few inches further, and I would have been beheaded. I still have nightmares about it once in a while.

Back when I was 16 I was late heading home from my girlfriend's house trying to get back to the house before curfew so momma wouldn't whip my arse. I had to make a 25 minute trip in probably 10 minutes to get back home in time. She lived down a gravel road and I was going over 40 mph on the road. It was dark of corse and I didn't see where the turn onto the black top was until I was right on it, but I tried to make the turn, when I'm skidding making the turn I see headlights coming straight towards me. Nearly drilled me, but I somehow made that turn, avoided that car, and made it home in time. Dodged 3 bullets that night.

Maybe that is why it went that way for her

All downhill after you, and she knew it

I was about 13 or 14, riding on logging trails on my new XR-75, happier than a pig in shite and not paying attention.

I come out onto the dirt road at the head of the trail, not looking left or right before.

As I get into the road, there's the pickup truck bearing down on me.

The guy saw me in the nick of time, swerved to the left and ended up in the ditch. He jumped out of the truck and the first thing out of his mouth is "Are you alright?"

The worst part was that my Dad found out the next Monday when the guy showed up at his hardware store. Lost the bike for a couple weeks.

I still see that truck sometimes in my dreams.

Feb 1991 Desert Shield/Storm

Narrowly escaped a ZSU (soviet anti aircraft gun)that had a bead on me....

My lead made his gun pass and was watching it as I was making my pass and he called "Break Left". 23mm ZSU fired and raked the starboard engine and vertical stab. I was lucky because there was no damage the elevator and the port stab...

Limped back to base and managed to settle the Hawg on the runway

I was in a car that got hit by a train when I was a little kid. The car got knocked backwards off the tracks.

Also passed out behind the wheel one night and crashed into a ditch. Only had a broken nose. So lucky

At summer camp when I was a kid, it was night and many of us were gathered around a gigantic camp fire that was built in a circular concrete fire pit. I walked around the edge of the fire to go sit next to someone and tripped over someone's foot. I lost balance and was falling sideways into the fire and all I can remember is seeing the red and orange glow of coals and flame getting closer and closer to my face. In that slow motion passage of time, somebody reached out and caught my wrist and pulled me back to safety. I would have been toast, literally.

A-10? Love those planes! I have been infatuated with them ever since I saw them the first time my Dad took me to the New Orleans air show when I was a kid. Gotta love a machine that started out as a cannon the size of a VW Bug before some engineer came along and said "Let's put wings on this thing".
